The Brandon Aiyuk stalemate is getting worse by the day. The contract extension saga that has been dragging throughout the off-season has now reached a situation that threatens to destroy everything the San Francisco 49ers have built so far. With that in mind and the latest development, Jauan Jennings had some words for his All-Pro teammate.
Brandon Aiyuk has officially put in a trade request after he felt that his contract extension is not going anywhere. After the news broke, Jennings came out with a story on his official Instagram account.
You gotta be a different type of person to act like you doing everything by yourself knowing dang well you not.Jauan Jennings wrote on Instagram
Some might argue that it may not have been directed at his fellow wide receiver. However, the timing of his post indicates otherwise.
Aiyuk did mention that recently his initial demand was lower than what he is asking now. Especially after the recent monster contracts other wideouts have signed. But Jauan Jennings, along with the entire NFL community, has taken note of how Aiyuk has been behaving since his standoff started.
The way he is constantly being around with former Arizona State teammate Jayden Daniels has certainly caught everyone’s attention. Now this trade request will only fortify the notion that Brandon Aiyuk wants to leave. All of this could question if everything is all right with the 49ers.
Brandon Aiyuk’s trade request could be the final straw
Now with Jauan Jennings speaking out, it is possible that either the San Francisco 49ers take the long straw and wait. Or take the short route and trade him away. Either way, the team will not waver from their goal of attempting to win a Super Bowl.
They have already drafted a backup in Ricky Pearsall, who also happens to be a former Arizona State Sun Devil. Add to that, Aiyuk might be demanding close to or more than $30 million per year. A figure that will pose problems for the 49ers in the foreseeable future. Therefore, it is possible that they trade him to another team for draft compensation and develop Pearsall.
Yes, Aiyuk is a ready to play All-Pro. Pearsall will take time to be even decent. But with the likes of Jennings and Deebo Samuel, along with all the All-Pro’s on the roster, it will help him learn faster on the way to a Super Bowl. All that said, only time will tell what road the 49ers take.
