From the No. 1 seed in the NFC to the bottom rank in the NFC West division, the way this season has turned out for the San Francisco 49ers, there has been a boatload of speculations surrounding head coach Kyle Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch’s future in the league. With the buzz surrounding the final week of the 2024 regular season, franchise owner Jed York steps up to clarify the situation.

In a recent conversation with The San Francisco Standard, the 49ers owner put an end to the rumors by assuring that he hasn’t lost faith in Shanahan and York over one losing season and thus, they are coming back for another season with the team.

You can write that, for sure,” asserted York ahead of the Week 18 game. “They’re not going anywhere.”

Although ESPN’s Adam Schefter had already reported that the Niners are not seeking to trade head coach Shanahan, York confirmed the news when asked to address the ongoing rumors about a change in the coaching staff of San Francisco. Shanahan and Lynch as well have addressed the speculations during previous interviews this month, stating that they have no plans to leave the 49ers anytime soon.

For now, instead of focusing on change in the management or coaching staff, the 49ers are focused on revamping the team after the 6-10 demise of this season. Their last hope to conclude the season on a good note was crushed when the Detroit Lions beat them 40-34 in the final game of the season.

Kyle Shanahan sees learning opportunities for Brock Purdy after 49ers’ struggles

After advancing to the Super Bowl last season, the expectations from the 49ers were high this season. However, their season ended at 6-10 due to many reasons including injuries, poor luck, and some questionable decisions. Though this season has dialed down the hype around quarterback Brock Purdy, his head coach Shanahan believes this would be a good learning experience for him.

He’s in a more challenging situation this year. He’s got two more weeks of it. I think it’s going to end up being really good for him in the long run.

He emphasized that since not having most of the strong offensive weapons in the active lineup, quarterback Purdy has handled many things on his own on the field, which certainly has been hard but shall make him better as a player in the future.
