The plot thickens for Brandon Aiyuk and his quest for a contract extension from the San Francisco 49ers, could end up in a trade if they fail to reach a middle ground. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed the 49ers have no intention of making a trade.
Aiyuk will play the last year of his contract, earning $19 million, but he wants to secure a long-term deal. The 49ers, working with limited cap space, already paid Jauan Jennings and rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall in the offseason.
Their goal is to let Aiyuk play the final year and then restart the negotiations. It led to the 26-year-old earlier this week requesting a trade and permission to speak with other teams, possibly with the Washington Commanders, where former Arizona teammate Jayden Daniels plays.
Regardless of his plea, the 49ers have no intention of allowing him for trade talks.
The 49ers do not want to and do not intend to trade [Brandon] Aiyuk, despite the fact that he has asked the team officially to move on from him. [And] really, what this comes down to is [that] there is a disagreement on his value.Adam Schefter said during Wednesday’s NFL Live.
2023 was Brandon Aiyuk’s breakout year. He recorded 1342 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, earning his first All-Pro call-up.
Aiyuk previously explained that he was ready for a deal of $26 million (the 49ers’ rumored offer) in the offseason before the receiver market reset following the extensions of Amon Ra St. Brown and AJ Brown, who signed $28 million and $33 million, respectively, with the Lions and the Eagles.

The Vikings topped both of them when they agreed to a $35 million annual deal with Justin Jefferson. So, now Aiyuk reportedly will not settle under $30 million.
A surprise trade deal emerged for Brandon Aiyuk
From NFC to AFC. Aiyuk is not the only one making headlines for a possible trade. 6 time Pro Bowler Davante Adams could make a blockbuster move to New York and play with former teammate Aaron Rodgers.
The Raiders agreed to pay 31-year-old Adams $140 million over 5 years. Yet after only 2 years of playing in Sin City, he has been linked with a move away, but it will not be easy.
According to NFL insider Rickey, the Raiders could make a sensational trade with the 49ers-Aiyuk for Adams.
RUMOR. The Raiders are a team interested in trading for Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk knows Antonio Pierce from ASU. Here's the fun part: the Raiders would send Davante Adams to the Niners in any trade. Davante has no real money on his deal after this season.Rickey wrote on X.

While there’s no news from the Raiders end, this trade would shock the football world. On the other hand, this would only happen if both Aiyuk and Adams agreed to it because both have aspirations of playing with their former teammates.
Aiyuk certainly made his stance clear when he appeared on the Pivot podcast with Daniels. Adams on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast hinted at his ambition of someday playing with Rodgers.
