The New York Knicks gave up their home court advantage to the Detroit Pistons after losing Game 2 of their first round series last night. Jalen Brunson and co went into a deficit early, and despite several rallies, couldn’t overcome the Pistons’ defense. 50 Cent, who was in attendance courtside with a few hip-hop luminaries, was crestfallen by the results of the game and took to Instagram to vent his feelings at MSG.
Many experts predicted the New York Knicks to have a problem dealing with the Detroit Pistons. Those suspicions proved to be true in game 2. Ausar Thompson was anointed as the head of the snake for their unit to deal with Brunson as his primary defender. The second-year player did his best to keep his wits about him, but earned six fouls before crunch time. Nevertheless, the Pistons were able to hold on to their slender lead and seal their first playoff win since 2008.
Cade Cunningham went off with 33 points on the night for Detroit. His outburst helped to counter off nights for starters Tim Hardaway Jr, Thompson and Jalen Duren, who combined for only 17 points. Dennis Schroder played a pivotal role with his 20-point haul on 6-of-10 shooting.
The Knicks’ undoing proved to be the lack of contributions from their bench unit. Each of their starters had 10 points or more, including Brunson, who had a game-high 37 points to his name. However, only Miles McBride with 8 points had any scoring contributions from the bench as Mitchell Robinson, Landry Shamet and Cameron Payne were held scoreless.
Watching all this unfold with courtside seats was hip-hop legend 50 Cent. The rapper from Jamaica, Queens was in the spotlight in the celebrity row for Madison Square Garden. He joined the likes of Nick and Kevin Jonas of Jonas Brothers fame, Ben Stiller, Timothee Chalamet and Olympics gold medalist gymnast Sunisa Lee courtside.
50 Cent also shared the limelight with his hip-hop contemporaries Joe Budden and Fat Joe, who were seated close to him.

50 Cent once beefed with Joe Budden and Fat Joe
50 Cent built up a reputation as hip-hop’s most feared instigator during the early and mid-2000s. The Jamaica, Queens rapper beefed with every hip-hop artist affiliated with major labels before and after being signed to Dr Dre and Shady Records.
50 Cent’s biggest beef was with Ja Rule, and he shot at any and every artist to collab with him during this time. Fat Joe was one of those rappers to work with Ja Rule, and he suffered the wrath of 50’s fireworks. Their eight-year long beef was resolved in 2012 after the death of their mutual friend Chris Lighty. Seeing the two of them chopping it up this way was surreal for many who were alive at the peak of their beef.
50 Cent and Joe Budden also had a beef, although this was more subliminal. Unlike Fat Joe, Joe Budden was more an underground hip-hop artist, which was why 50 Cent didn’t direct much energy towards him. The two seem to have made up with each other in the recent past, indicating an end to 50 Cent’s vendetta.
