Conor McGregor loves money; it’s something every fan knows about. UFC 308 is on about right now at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Featherweight champ Ilia Topuria meets Max Holloway at the pay-per-view top-bill headliner of the night. Meanwhile, Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev clash in the co-headliner. Money man ‘Mac’ is hedging big bets on some of those.

‘EL Matador’ Ilia Topuria and “Blessed” Bull Max Holloway make their UFC 308 walk at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET (12:45 a.m. locally in Abu Dhabi). The Spaniard once had Conor McGregor in sight as a money fight before he snagged gold. ‘The Notorious’ dissed and refused the red panty night offer. Ever since, the duo have been at odds over social media exchanges. Now he props out big bets.

Wassup guys…’The Notorious’ Conor McGregor here — Ladies and gentlemen, here are my picks for the evening…Max Holloway. Robert Whittaker. Ko Victories. Max Holloway inside the first half of the fight. Robert Whittaker inside the second half of the fight…Half a million US Dollars…

The 36-year-old posted betting slips worth a whopping $1.2 million, although somewhat illegal, for the UFC 307 pay-per-view headliner. Recently, he lost a $500K bet on the ‘Battle of the Giants’ (DAZN/ESPN+) pay-per-view headliner. But that does not stop the ‘Notorious’ roll.

Max Holloway dropped a UD loss to the Irishman in 2013; however, the duo have had amicable banters. McGregor recently praised him for stringing a 13-fight winning streak right after and squaring up Jose Aldo. That seemed to be a touching point, given that he has had a similar history with Aldo since UFC 194.

He even spat on Topuria again. That he’d so isn’t new; that he’d hedge another $500K to spare could be. Just how rich is he these days? Holloway, though, has his own tales to weave. The Irishman was set to earn $17 million had he won the bet at UFC 308. However, Whittaker lost to Chimaev in the co-main event, spoiling his chance to win $17 million.

Max Holloway on the future of the BMF title

A big part of the reason Max Holloway took on Justin Gaethje at the UFC 300 PPV was because he knew a win would open up many career options. He is sporting the same mentality against Ilia Topuria at tonight’s UFC 308 affair.

Not only did he win, but Holloway pulled off one of the greatest finishes in UFC competition. Late in the fifth round, he pointed to the canvas and invited Gaethje to join him. That fight crowned Holloway “BMF” champion at the convoluted 155lbs mark. But he ultimately decided his next move was back to featherweight, challenging Ilia Topuria for the UFC 308 main event title.

While the title fight matters to him now, Holloway knows that winning on Saturday puts him back in the same advantageous position. He promises that he hasn’t forgotten about his silver belt.

For sure. I think so for sure, …At the end of the day in this sport, the thing that you want is options. I go out there, I get my hand raised. What is the saying? The world is my oyster. I can’t wait for it.

Assuming he survives Topuria and becomes a two-time featherweight champion, Holloway knows there’s plenty of work to be done in that division, too. But the best is “Blessed,” and he plans to do it all as the “Baddest of All.”
