Vivek Ranadive supports DeMar DeRozan in Drake Beef

The Sacramento Kings took on the Toronto Raptors in a highly anticipated rematch on Wednesday night. The matchup came after the two exchanged fireworks in Toronto between former friends Drake and DeMar DeRozan.

The Kings defeated the Raptors 120-107 and the highlight of the match was the Kings’ owner, Vivek Ranadive, coming out in support of his latest superstar. The Kings made their lone visit to Toronto earlier this week.

During the game, Drake threw shots at DeRozan on the Raptors broadcast. The two continued to exchange words following the game, with both taking off-court jibes at each other. As both teams matched up again in Sacramento, Ranadive took his courtside seat rocking a ‘Not Like Us’ hoodie.

The hoodie pays homage to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ Drake diss, which topped the charts this summer. The song featured Kings star DeRozan in its music video, which prompted a response from Drake.

After Drake explicitly stated his intentions to ‘tear down’ DeRozan’s jersey in Toronto, Ranadive made sure that he backed up his team’s superstar ahead of their matchup with the Raptors. Drake and DeRozan go way back, as the duo spent many years together during DeRozan’s nine-year stint with the Raptors.

However, DeRozan chose to return to his roots this summer, making the decision to return to California with the Kings. Deebo, who was born in Compton, backed his hometown during the Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef, which encapsulated pop culture over the summer.

DeMar DeRozan leads Kings to victory over Raptors in ‘revenge’ game

Following the clash between Drake and DeMar DeRozan this week, many fans expected the 5x Grammy award-winning artist to walk the talk. However, Drake failed to show up in Sacramento to see his Raptors potentially win the season series over the Kings.

In the meantime, DeRozan handled affairs at home, handing the Raptors a 120-107 loss to even the season series. He ended the game with 27 points on 11-21 shooting, including 11 points in the fourth quarter. The ‘King of the Fourth Quarter’ once again lived up to his name, putting the Kings on top to seal the victory.

DeRozan currently holds the 4th position in the fourth quarter scoring leaders in the NBA. The winner of the inaugural NBA Clutch Player of the Year award looks set to put up another campaign as the best clutch player in the league.
