“The issue needs to be resolved as soon as possible” – Wrestler Sushil Kumar voices his support for farmers’ protest

Farmers continue to protest against the three farm laws enacted by the government under the new farm’s bill. Five rounds of talks between union ministers and farmers have failed. As the farmers continue to demand that the laws be repealed. The government has offered four major amendments as the farmers stick to their demand. This has led to a sixth round of talks, scheduled for Wednesday, after the last meeting yielded no breakthrough on the repeal of the three laws.
Meanwhile, several sportspersons including Padma Shri and Arjuna awardees have joined the demonstrating farmers at the Haryana Delhi border to extend their support. Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar joined the list as he demanded that the government should listen to the farmers’ grievances.
The nation is standing tall with farmers

The two-time Olympic medallist points out that it is the farmers who toil hard to keep the wheel of the economy turning. And the government should acknowledge their efforts and their demands. Sushil feels that the farmers have been protesting for their rights for too long. And the government should cooperate to end this turmoil.
“The government should make good decisions and make the farmers happy. The whole country runs on the work done by farmers, the issue needs to be resolved as soon as possible. The farmers have been protesting for a long time now, so the issue needs a solution quickly,” Sushil told ANI.
“One thing I would say that for 3 months farmers protested there so this issue needs to be resolved as soon as possible and the issue should not escalate further. The entire nation is standing tall with the farmers.“
Some noted athletes in Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee wrestler Kartar Singh, Arjuna awardee basketball player Sajjan Singh Cheema, Arjuna awardee hockey player Rajbir Kaur and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee boxer Vijender Singh are set to return their awards. The athletes’ move comes as a mark of protest in solidarity with the farmers’ protest.
