UFC president Dana White made a statement that the promotion will be cutting at least 60 fighters by the end of this year. This started when UFC terminated the contract with legend Anderson ‘Spider’ Silva followed by Anthony Johnson, Yoel Romero, and many others.

Dana White said that these cuts have nothing to do with the pay of the fighters it has everything to do with the performance. But not everyone is buying this thing, the UFC veteran Chris Weidman is certainly not buying this. In his recent interview with James Lynch of Fantastic view, Weidman said that UFC trying to get rid of us so that thet bring these younger guys up with less pay.

“It’s unprecedented that they’re letting guys go with fights on their contract. It really does put everybody in a position, if you’re in the UFC, like, ‘Oh crap.’ If you’re not winning right now, especially if you’re getting paid a lot of money, it looks like they’re trying to get rid of you and bring these younger guys up who they aren’t paying as much money.”

“ It started with Anderson Silva and then you saw it with Yoel Romero,” Weidman said. It was always just a thing, if you had fought on your contract that is a position for the UFC where you can’t go somewhere else and make money. So you always wanted a little fewer fights on your contract that was part of the negations.”

“And now it seems like they’re actually letting guys go with tons of fights on their contracts.” With this Weidman also believes that his former rival Anderson Silva fill sign up with another promotion but with his words, he took a toll on UFC for sure.

The rivalry between Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva is one of the most famous rivalries in UFC and even after Spider being released from UFC, Weidman is keen to fight him. He added, “I think he fights if he wants to fight, yeah. Someone’s going to give him money to fight. He may not be getting the money he wants.”

“It seems like the free-agency market isn’t really in the best place right now, probably due to corona and everything.” According to Weidman, Silva may find a home for himself but the other fighters may not be lucky as him.
