Reports: Novak Djokovic to train with fellow Serbian, Filip Krajinovic during Australian Open quarantine

Novak Djokovic, World number one, will reportedly train with fellow Serbian, Filip Krajinovic during the first week of quarantine, ahead of the Australian Open 2021. As per the quarantine guidelines issued by health officials of Victoria and Tennis Australia, players will need to arrive in Australia by mid-January and quarantine themselves for two weeks, during which they will be only allowed to spend up to five hours a day outside their rooms for training.

Filip Krajinovic is ranked 31 in the ATP rankings and is known to be a close friend of Novak Djokovic. The duo have played Davis Cup for Serbia and have also played Doubles events on men’s tour. According to the guidelines, a player can practice with only one other player in the first week of quarantine in Melbourne. In the second week, they can form a group of four for practice.

Novak Djokovic is expected to kick start his 2021 season at the ATP Cup in Melbourne, as reported by journalist, Michal Samulski.

The second edition of the ATP Cup will take place in the first week of February before the Australian Open commences from February 8. Serbia are the defending champions, after having won the inaugural edition of the event, defeating Spain in the final, who were led by Rafael Nadal.

Novak Djokovic enters the Australian Open as the favourite, having won eight titles in Melbourne which is the most by any player. The Serbian has won back to back Australian Open titles in 2019 and 2020 and will hope to continue his dominance in Australia.
