Tennis legend, former world no.1, and current TV Pundit Mats Wilander believes that Dominic Thiem and Nick Kyrgios played an “unbelievable” game of tennis. 

In the match itself, Kyrgios playing in front of a partisan home crowd, dominated the first two sets.

But from the third set onwards, Thiem slowly but surely fought his way back in the match. In the end coming back to win a remarkable game of tennis  4-6 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4.

Mats Wilander also praised the way Thiem conducted himself when he was facing all that discouragement from the home crowd. “Don’t forget Dominic Thiem, the way that he plays, the way that he acted – he didn’t go against the crowd, he just kept fighting, kept his head down, said Wilander.

Mats Wilder hopes that Kyrgios finds inspiration in the way he has played in this match against Thiem. Wilder adds that “When he fights like this, he is one of the best players in the world and one of my favourite players to watch.” Wilder says that it’s time Kyrgios started trusting his game more and believing that he belongs at the top level.
