Hurt by Pakistan’s record 228-run defeat against India, former Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal launched a scathing attack on Babar Azam and Co. Akmal said that Pakistan went to Sri Lanka for holidaying and if their approach remains the same in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India, then they will struggle against even a team like the Netherlands.
When Pakistan and India faced in the 2023 Asia Cup Super Four stage, India posted 356/2. But the Men in Green suffered a collapse before getting skittled out for a mere 127 runs, losing the match by 228 runs.
After the match, Pakistan had to face the ire of the fans and former cricketers who did not mince their words to tear apart the Men in Green. “If you want a good performance in the World Cup, if you want to play in the Asia Cup final, and if you have this approach, you will struggle to even beat the Netherlands,” the former wicketkeeper-batter said on his official YouTube channel.
“What is the management doing? Who told you to bowl first? At least tell players to stay on the crease. Your run rate has suffered badly. You chased 190-odd runs in 40-odd overs against Bangladesh,” he added.
