Post lockdown, Svitolina has reached a few Quarter Finals and a few Semi Finals as well, but the big prize has eluded her. Her best finish in the Grand Slams last season was a Quarter Final appearance in the French Open. In the Qatar Open Svitolina had a great chance of beating an injured Azarenka, but somehow she lost that match too.

Going out in the Quarter Final stage of a tournament once more.  Svitolina has the game to win on any surface and one hopes it’s just a matter of time before she starts winning tournaments again. Her second round opponent is Svetlana Kuznetsova. Kuznetsova turned pro more than two decades ago. A two time Grand Slam winner, has not been in the best of forms of late. She beat Wang Qiang of China 6-4 1-6 7-5 in the first round.

Svitolina has the game to play from the baseline, move quickly and even play well at the net. Her serve is also a much improved one post 2016. Kuznetsova has been on a decline for the last couple of seasons, and expectations will not be very high from the veteran. Overall Svitolina is a much superior player, and if she can keep her head at the right place she should win this match. 

Match Prediction:  Elina Svitolina will defeat Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets.
