Novak Djokovic won his opening round against the Dane in a 3-set thriller. The two also met recently at the Paris Masters, where World No. 1 defeated Rune in a close 3-set finish in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

That’s not all; the Serb went on to win his 7th Paris Masters title. As the reigning US Open champion faces a tough draw at the ATP Finals, he will look to break Roger Federer‘s record of six ATP Finals titles in Turin.

Notably, Novak Djokovic is known to be friendly with the staff and ball kids on the court. He has had numerous heartwarming moments with them several times in his career. At the ATP Finals as well, the ball girl will be delighted as she created a lifelong memory of having escorted and even talked with the tennis legend.

His rival, Carlos Alcaraz, now has no chance of bridging the gap and reclaiming his No. 1 spot. The Spaniard showed some disappointing performances on the Asian leg of the tour. He even failed to perform at the other tournaments in the remaining season. Hence, Novak Djokovic took this opportunity and went past the Spanish to complete the year as No. 1.
