When Kimmel questioned Chuck about his last basketball game, the 76ers legend replied that it was the day he retired, which was eighteen years ago. Kimmel had to ask him if he still loved basketball after he replied that he hadn’t played in a long time.

Jimmy Kimmel asked Barkley,

When was the last time you played basketball?

Charles Barkley said:

I think the day i retired--You retire because your body can’t take that abuse anymore.

The two continued talking about whether Barkley could defeat any NBA player who is currently playing. Charles Barkley said that because they were all so skilled, he couldn’t defeat any of them. The host also brought up Charles’ freshman status and the fact that Auburn University still had a statue of him on campus.

After 2 years of retiring, Charles Barkley issued a book

After leaving the NBA in 2000, Charles Barkley wrote a book, “I May Be Wrong, but I Doubt It” in 2002 to share his amazing journey and ensure his legacy would live on forever. In his book, Charles Barkley claimed that playing against great players is like working a long day at the office, but playing with great players is also less stressful. All he had to do was perform his part, which he did brilliantly, and his amazing teammates did an amazing job. In his book, he boasted about his Olympic gold medals, saying they were too simple for him to achieve.

In his autobiography, Barkley added that he gained a great deal of NBA experience throughout the trial. These days, it’s hard to believe that Barkley, Terry Porter, and John Stockton were all cut on the same day and then drove home together.
