IPL 2021: Kieron Pollard completes quarantine period; allowed to begin training

Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to begin their title defence in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that begins on the 9th of April. The most successful team in the tournament, MI will be out to do the ‘three-peat’ as they have won both of the previous editions. As it was with the last season, the side would once again be the overwhelming favorites to get their hands on the trophy due to the excellent squad that they have.
MI made some further additions in the auction for this year’s edition as they acquired the likes of Adam Milne, James Neesham, Piyush Chawla, Marco Jansen and Nathan Coulter-Nile (rebought after releasing during retention window). Adding these players to the already excellent arsenal of talent that the side has, MI would be the team to beat and the rest of the teams would be out to stop them.
Kieron Pollard to join training soon

The MI franchise has been posting videos and photos from the side’s training sessions in Chennai. In the same, fans had spotted a notable absentee in the form of Kieron Pollard who wasn’t seen anywhere. Now, sources from ANI have confirmed that the West Indian has just finished his quarantine period of 7 days and hence, was not eligible for training before the period was over. He will now join the camp for training.
“He left West Indies and joined the MI unit in Chennai. He has just finished his quarantine period as prescribed by the BCCI Standard Operating Procedure and that is why he wasn’t seen around in MI training activities,” the source reportedly said.
The all-rounder will be expected to play a key role for the side in this year’s edition of the IPL starting with MI’s first match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on the 9th of April in Chennai.
