Since the week Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles at the beginning of the season, analysts and fans have been getting updates on his injury frequently. Recently the New York Jets quarterback made headlines for a potential return on the field on Christmas Eve against the Washington Commanders.
Unfortunately, that dream was crushed into pieces as the Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh officially announced that the veteran QB is not going to return this season. Interestingly, the team is going to keep him active so that Rodgers can be a part of the practice.
While talking on the matter, sports analyst Colin Cowherd put forward his views on quarterback Rodgers and the Jets. In his opinion, the whole comeback fiasco of the veteran quarterback is nothing but a publicity stunt to keep him as well as the Jets relevant, amidst the team’s playoff struggles.
Cowherd said on ‘The Herd’ latest episode:
The Jets announced they're going to activate Aaron Rodgers off the IR. It's a plus to have him on the practice field, for him and his teammates. Robert Saleh also reiterated he's not going to play, which Aaron reiterated yesterday, he's not going to play. So if you can't win games, let's try to win PR, just the silly circus continues.Colin Cowherd on ‘The Herd’
Cowherd emphasized how the Jets have kept Rodgers on the sidelines, on the headset. He has also been travelling with the team everywhere they go and he has been in the practice for quite some time now. He added:
We see him throw the ball around but now, it's official, he's been activated on the Jets roster because he's so good around the team. Really? I've watched you play..he ain't that good. He's not making that much of a difference.
Unlike Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins doesn’t need PR to play game
While talking about Rodgers and the over-enthusiastic PR team that kept him relevant, analyst Cowherd also mentioned Kirk Cousins. Apart from Rodgers, another quarterback who sustained an Achilles injury is Minnesota Vikings‘ QB Cousins.
However, there has been very limited coverage of him because he “doesn’t need 24/7 validation and attention. Updates on a weekly basis. Doesn’t need to play a game with PR.”

He highlighted how Cousins is very secure with himself and “part of a fabric, of an organization, of a family,” life does not revolve around him. He believes when someone is truly content and happy, they don’t seek validation or constant attention.
