Before their careers went in different directions, Darren Till dominated Sean Strickland in a rare instance. Since then, Till has been open about reassessing the skills he now possesses. After his release from the UFC in February 2023, the British middleweight has been in the news a handful of times. Recently, Till responded to haters after facing brutal comments about his looks following an intense workout session.

The 18-5-1 Till last lost to South African phenom Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282. Concurrently, Du Plessis now faces 28-5 Strickland for his maiden title defense at UFC 297. Taking to his Instagram, here’s what “The Gorilla” wrote on a rare sparring session against “Tarzan:”

Throwback to when I battered @stricklandmma for 12 rounds in the boxing gym. What can I say. Always been a top striker...

A prime reaction retorted on why he isn’t a champion while Strickland holds the middleweight gold. To which the fighter funnily quipped and professed that his skills are “sh*t:”

Cos am sh*t.
Darren Till replied

The fighter is notorious for his unquivering yet peculiar stances on things. Back in the day, Till went viral for morphing his ex-girlfriend’s tattoo to that of a gorilla. Resembling his moniker in 2022.

Till debuted with a 12-0 pro-MMA record and went undefeated in his first six bouts. Since then, however, he’s been on the losing end of five of his six fights and was released by the UFC in early 2023. However, fans have found his self-assessment hilarious and reacted thus.

Sean Strickland won the middleweight gold after a fateful UFC 293, in what has been labeled as one of MMA’s greatest upsets. British middleweight Darren Till on the other hand, saw his release from the promotion earlier in 2023. But there came a rare instance in their early career, where Till dominated the champion.  Till was once offered a Strickland fight in 2021, in hopes of headlining a rumored London card. But the fight never came to be.
