Fans familiar with WWE Programming back in the early 2010s won’t deny the influence that CM Punk had. However, he’d go on to leave the company in 2014 on a sour note after irreparable issues. Former WWE Manager and Wrestling Veteran, Dutch Mantell recently touched on the topic by recalling the accursed day the Second City Saint left.
Mantell would reveal on Smack Talk about how he wanted to talk with Vince McMahon on that day. He said that the Best in the World had engaged him for several hours gradually reducing the line of the people who waited. Eventually, even Mantell would go on giving up the idea of meeting the former Chairman. To quote him:
I've told the story about I went to talk to Vince that day and CM Punk kept him in the room for three hours, four hours. I said, scr*w it, I'm never gonna get it there. And I didn't get in there that day and that was the day he left.Dutch Mantell in the Podcast
Mantell was someone who accompanied Jake Hager, aka Jack Swagger in the early 2010s. Punk had already vented his displeasure on several occasions, of which, the iconic Pipebomb promo is fondly remembered like an urban legend.
With Vince McMahon’s departure from the WWE Creative after TKO Merger, several superstars returned to WWE. Under the Creative Regime of The Game, Triple H, the Best in the World finally graced the WWE fans in his hometown, making it one of the best endings for a PLE in WWE History.
