‘It’s very very positive for our sport’ – Tyson Fury on YouTubers like Jake Paul taking up Boxing

Jake Paul steamrolled Ben Askren in his third professional boxing match, held at the Mercedes-Bank Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. With that win he moved to 3-0 up in his professional boxing career, after having previously beaten fellow YouTuber AnesonGib and Ex-Basketballer Nate Robinson.

However, a large chunk of combat sports fans have been against YouTubers like Jake Paul and Logan Paul taking up boxing, since they felt that these people ruined the sport. However, heavyweight king Tyson Fury recently revealed in an interview with Fight Hype that people like Jake Paul coming to professional boxing will surely increase the viewership of the sport, and encourage a lot of kids as well to watch the sport.
‘Absolutely fantastic for the game’ – Tyson Fury
Tyson Fury told Fight Hype, “Absolutely fantastic for the game. These YouTube guys coming to professional boxing brings more eyes to our sport. The kids and more people are watching from different ages because of these guys. So it’s very, very positive for our sport.”
Jake Paul is only going from strength to strength. At this point it looks like him taking on any non-boxing athlete, be it even an MMA star in a boxing match, might end up in a victory for the YouTube sensation. It is high time that the Problem Child faced a legit pro-boxer.
But, as Fury says, it is true that the entry of the Paul brothers into boxing has brought in more viewership, due to their immense online popularity. And, Paul for his part has been putting in the hard yards as well. He has been training rigorously and in fact religiously for all his matches.
