Elina Svitolina had not started the year well by any stretch of the imagination. Her work life and her love life were both suffering, and one really cannot segregate one from the other. But once Svitolina got back with her partner, and got engaged, her game seems to have come back as well.

In the last month alone, she has reached the Semifinals of two WTA events. First she reached the Semi-finals of the Miami Open on hard courts and then the semi-final of the Stuttgart Open, and on both occasions she lost to the eventual champion Ash Barty.
