Yuzvendra Chahal donates Rs. 95,000 to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s COVID-19 relief fund

The COVID-19 pandemic and its second wave has wreaked havoc on India and led to a perpetual state of uncertainty and despair. More than 4 lakh cases are being reported each day and the situation looks dire at the moment. At this juncture, a plethora of people have come forward to donate for relief by contributing funds or supplies like beds and oxygen supplies. Some celebrities and sportspersons have been among those in the forefront in doing so.

Cricketers began contributing during the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Australian pacer Pat Cummins beginning it all with a USD 50,000 donation. Soon a plethora of players Jaydev Unadkat, Shreevats Goswami, Sheldon Jackson, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Nicholas Pooran, Brett Lee among others contributing for the cause of COVID-19 relief through funds or procuring supplies.

In the vein of the aforesaid players, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma too started a fundraiser and they announced it on social media saying, “Things have been very tough for India as we fight the pandemic. It really pains us to see our country suffer like this. We are grateful to all people who fight day and night for our sake. Their dedication is appreciated. Anushka and I have started a fundraise on ketto. We request you all to join the imitative and donate. Every little bit makes a difference. We will overcome this together, if we are in it together. Now, India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has donated a sum of Rs. 95,000 to the fund. Although there has been no official announcement on the same, the Ketto website shows the top contributors along with their names and Chahal’s name can be found there. Soon after the news came out, the leggie has been praised for his noble act on social media.
