“Him and I didn’t always collaborate,” Drew McIntyre reveals how his WWE feud with CM Punk worked out despite real-life animosity
In what could probably go down as a career-defining feud for Drew McIntyre, he held his own against a veteran like CM Punk.

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk feuded almost over the entirety of 2024. The seeds for their rift weren’t planted on purpose but by an accident that saw the Scot inadvertently tear up the Chicagoan’s triceps. By the end of the year, they were receiving rave reviews about their on-screen chemistry. The Scottish Psychopath has looked back on it.
While being a guest on Joe Weller‘s Wafflin‘ podcast, the former two-time WWE Champion asserted he doesn’t like Punk, and the animosity is mutual. However, the 39-year-old added that they were professional enough to put the personal beef aside and do what’s best for business. Punk and McIntyre ended up having a trilogy of matches.
The Chosen One and The Second City Saint didn’t always discuss behind-the-scenes whatever they were going to deliver on national television. Instead, those individuals worked through a mediator, which further alludes to the fact that they still don’t get along. For those who witnessed them lock horns within the confines of Hell in a Cell know how gory of a match that was.
Him and I didn’t always collaborate, we just talked to a mediator, and we’ll see you out there……..

The Ayr-born wrestler received 16 staples to his forehead after being cut wide open. It so happened when The Best in the World decked the Scot with a metal toolbox with authority. Punk scraped through the menace of his nemesis and eventually won the rivalry by 2-1. The only pinfall loss that Punk succumbed to came at SummerSlam, which was the 46-year-old’s first match back since January.
Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest to meet on this week’s SmackDown
Though many believe it’s not the best option for Drew McIntyre to battle Damian Priest in a non-title proposition at WrestleMania 41, the feud is red-hot. Both men have had their share of dropping each other on their heads. The Scottish Warrior made light work of The Street King on a couple of occasions when SmackDown was in Europe lately.

Priest got his lick back in a major way when he ambushed McIntyre backstage. The former Judgment Day member chokeslammed Drew over the windshield of a car that left the latter impotent. It was reported that some pieces of glass had seeped through McIntyre’s eyelashes for real. And it turned out to be true when the Scot showed up in an eye patch.
In fact, The Chosen One recently posted a picture on X where he could be seen receiving the necessary treatment in his right eye. This Friday on SmackDown, Drew and Priest will come face-to-face just a week before The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Now that they’ve beaten each other up enough, the fans could expect a verbal jousting from these belligerents. McIntyre still blames Priest for screwing him up at WrestleMania XL. However, El Campeon has stated that Drew’s stupid obsession with CM Punk tanked him.
How does Drew McIntyre approach his promos?
Drew McIntyre has reinvented himself in recent years and pretty much cut the noise around his promo skills. The Scotsman has been jacked for a long time. However, the side of him that the fans are starting to appreciate more is the one he presents while grabbing a microphone in front of a live audience.

Drew told Joe Weller and crew in the aforementioned podcast that he doesn’t follow a script while verbally berating his opponents. He added that he does collaborate with the creative team to see where the story is going. When in the middle of that ring, he just goes with how the people are responding in lieu of adhering to a pre-written piece of paper.
Drew McIntyre says he doesn't follow a script when delivering promos, he just goes with his gut.

"The words that come out of my mouth? That’s me. No one can tell me how to be Drew McIntyre, cause I'm Drew McIntyre. I’m not reading off some stupid piece of paper."

Consequently, he tests his foes, and if they’re not capable of clapping back, Drew said he’ll eat them alive. This mindset of the Scot could be attributed to the success he’s had on the mic of late. A prime example of it can be traced back to a three-way promo battle Drew had with CM Punk and Seth Rollins on an episode of Raw last year. It felt as if each of them was ad-libbing.
