Lois Boisson took to social media to respond to Harriet Dart‘s controversial ‘deodorant’ comment, asking toiletries company Dove for a collaboration. This came after Dart asked the chair umpire to urge Boisson to wear deodorant during their first-round match at the WTA 125 Open de Rouen on Tuesday (April 15).

Dart, who succumbed to a 0-6 defeat in the first set in just 28 minutes, tried to shift the momentum in the second set but her efforts went in vain. She failed to convert her six break points and dropped her serves four times before losing the match with a 6-0, 6-3 scoreline.

During the change of ends in the second set, when Boisson was walking back to the court and appeared to be out of earshot, Dart approached the chair umpire to complain about body odor. The clip of the same went viral, making headlines across the world.

Can you tell her to wear a deodorant because she smells really bad?

Dart was harshly criticized for her conduct with tennis fans demanding that she should be banned. Amid criticism, Dart took to her Instagram story to apologize. She said she uttered those words in the heat of the moment and praised Boisson for her game.

Boisson, however, gave a lighthearted response to the complaint. She posted a picture of her on the Instagram story where she edited a Dove deodorant placed on her hand. She tagged the company and wrote, “apparently need a collab.”

Nick Kyrgios mocked Harriet Dart after her deodorant comment about Lois Boisson

Nah saying this when you are down and getting snipped is wild (six laughing emoticons).

The match was Boisson’s first WTA match of the season. Last year, after winning the L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo, she withdrew from her first-round match in a WTA 125 event in Paris she was playing against Fiona Ferro in May due to an injury and since then she couldn’t participate in the rest of the tournaments before making her return in Rouen.

For Dart, the Open de Rouen was her seventh WTA tournament of the season. She failed to move into the main draw of two of those seven events (at the Brisbane Open and the Miami Open). She arrived in Rouen following her three consecutive first-round defeats.

The World No.110, who made it to the third of Wimbledon in 2019 and 2024, recently participated in the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers against Germany and the Netherlands. She was not a part of the tie against the Netherlands. But against Germany, Dart and Olivia Nicholls were defeated in the doubles match by Laura Siegemund and Anna-Lena Friedsam.

Kyrgios, on the other hand, was last seen in action at the Miami Open, where he, for the first time in over two years, won a match. He came from a set down to beat Mackenzie McDonald in the first round before losing the second-round match to Karen Khachanov.

So far in the season, the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up has participated in four tournaments. He made his much-awaited comeback after 18 months at the Brisbane International, where he also played doubles with 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. The 29-year-old then registered three consecutive defeats, losing his singles matches in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Indian Wells.
