Caitlin Clark's jersey sales clear LeBron James and Michael Jordan's

Before Caitlin Clark came into the WNBA, she was already one of the most talked about women’s basketball players in the world. No college athlete drew that many viewers both inside arenas as well on television screens.

As her popularity continued to grow, so did the number of fans. The last three games of her college career resulted in approximately 45 million viewers. The NCAA had not seen such numbers in the history of college women’s basketball.

Then, when the Indiana Fever drafted her No. 1 overall, her new No. 22 WNBA jerseys sold out within an hour. Sports leagues had not seen this level of madness from fans. Soon, those sales started to help the league grow in overall merchandise sales.

All this while, others in the league claimed that Clark was not the sole reason for the rise in overall merchandise sales. Sporting gear site Fanatics analysed their sales data from September 1st, 2024, to November 3rd in the same year.

That period covers the end of the WNBA season. It is also the time when the next NBA season starts. At this time, the MLB season is in full swing. Along with them, the NFL and NHL seasons also start. Fanatics clubbed the NBA and WNBA data and found out that Caitlin Clark‘s jersey was not the best-selling product in their store.

Instead, it was the second-best-selling jersey behind Stephen Curry. What was more surprising was that the Fever star beat out LeBron James, Michael Jordan and a slew of top NBA stars. Quite an achievement for a corn-fed girl from Des Moines, Iowa.

WWE superstar calls Caitlin Clark’s impact Michael Jordan-esque

Former coaches, teammates and several members of the media believe Caitlin Clark’s impact on women’s basketball as well as women’s sports in general has been unprecedented. But for fellow Iowa native and WWE superstar Seth Rollins, her impact is reminiscent of another great.

I love Caitlin Clark. It’s Jordanesque. She’s changed the game. She is so unassuming.

Seth Rollins said

Rollins believes Clark’s impact surpasses women’s basketball. He believes it is because the 23-year-old does not try to be like a star, but is one of the most popular athletes in all of sports. That humble and unassuming attitude is what makes her great.

He is grateful that she is from Iowa, as they do not have any sports teams in the state. But he revealed how his friends back home relay their excitement to have one of their own, as possibly one of the biggest names in sports.

Former NBA All-Star wants Clark to bring back her John Cena celebration

Caitlin Clark grabbed national headlines when she broke out John Cena‘s famous You Can’t See Me celebration at the 2023 NCAA March Madness. But after Angel Reese taunted her back in the subsequent national title loss, she has never used it. However, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas believes she should bring it back.

I wish Caitlin Clark gets back her ‘I can’t feel my face’. She let that s**t go.

Gilbert Arenas said

The three-time All-Star clarified that when the then-Iowa Hawkeyes star used that celebration, many did not like it. She also had other gestures that made her a target for others. But ever since Angel Reese hit Clark back with her own celebration, she stopped using it.

Arenas wants the now Indiana Fever superstar to bring those taunting celebrations back. Everyone is aware of her trash talk. But those taunts can elevate the game to another level. He believes more and more fans will start watching the WNBA.
