The Baltimore Ravens Justin Tucker is under investigation for allegedly harassing massage parlor employees, so the Ravens drafted Tyler Loop as an insurance policy.

Justin Tucker is on the clock. The Baltimore Ravens sent an indirect warning to the veteran after drafting Arizona State kicker Tyler Loop in the sixth round (186th overall).

It took everyone by surprise because the Ravens have never drafted a kicker in their franchise history. Loop was part of the Wildcats for five years. As per the Baltimore Banner’s Jonas Shaffer, Loop made 85.7% of his field goal attempts in college.

This development serves as a warning to Justin Tucker. The Super Bowl winner is entering his 13th year in Baltimore, but Skip Bayless claimed the Ravens should move on.

Wow: the Ravens clearly have lost faith in Justin Tucker, on and off the field. They just took Tyler Loop, who to me was worth a much higher pick because kicking wins and loses way too many games.

Skip Bayless tweeted

Why drafting Tyler Roop is a bad omen for Justin Tucker

As Bayless hinted, Tucker’s numbers fell off a cliff last year. Fans jokingly brought up his tussle with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce back in the 2024 AFC Championship game. Despite being a home game, the Ravens lost with Tucker missing a crucial two-point conversion.

Kelce later defended himself.

If you want to be a f****** d*** about it, you keep your helmet and your football and your f****** kicking tee right where the quarterbacks are warming up, and they are dropping, eyes are looking left, and they have a helmet down by your feet. Like, if you’re not going to pick that up, I’ll happily move that for you.

Travis Kelce said

That game kind of jinxed Tucker’s form. In the following 2024 season, he only converted 73.3% of his field goals, which was 11% fewer than his previous worst of 85% in his second season in the league.

On top of it, Tucker found himself riddled with off-field drama like Deshaun Watson. The Baltimore Banner reported that the 5x All-Pro kicker was accused of alleged s**ual harassment by several massage parlor employees in the Baltimore area.

As many as 16 people lodged complaints against the 35-year-old. The Ravens kept an eye on the matter right after the allegations started to flood the internet.

John Harbaugh and general manager Eric DeCosta thought of the future and drafted a rookie kicker, Tyler Loop.

Here, the Ravens make a loud statement. Teams rarely use picks on kickers without the intent of having those rookies come in and win those jobs. [The Ravens drafting Tyler Loop] tells you that Justin Tucker’s future in Baltimore is very much up in the air.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said after the Ravens drafted Tyler Loop

Tucker is still under investigation. The Ravens didn’t want to be without a kicker if the authorities found any foul play.

Loop is excited to be a Raven

After becoming the first kicker ever to be drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in history, Loop spoke with Ravens beat writer Clifton Brown.

My dad mentioned, ‘Hey, the Ravens have never drafted a kicker.’ It’s pretty special. To get drafted itself is pretty cool, especially an organization like the Ravens. You couldn’t dream of anything cooler.

Tyler Loop said

He also views the presence of Justin Tucker as an opportunity to learn from arguably the best kicker of all time.

It’s really exciting, more than pressure… Getting to follow in the footsteps of a guy like that, who’s been so elite, get to compete with him and maybe learn from him, that gets me fired up.
