The NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega was one of the cleanest races the track has witnessed in the recent years and didn’t feature the usual chaos it is infamous for. But it didn’t lack wild moments though, thanks to Wood Brothers Racing star Josh Berry, who found himself in two situations that was unavoidable.

The first incident happened in the 17th lap of the race, when the No:21 Ford was driving P3 at the speed of 190 Mph. As Josh Berry was approaching a corner at the iconic 2.66 miles Superspeedway, an unlucky bird flew to the front of the car and Josh Berry made contact with it, resulting in it getting obliterated.

The second incident later during a pit cycle. He came into the pit-road behind Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar. The No:77 Chevy parked his car a little outside his box, forcing his crew to come out area of the track which was part of Berry’s pit-entry. As the No:21 Ford entered the pits, he made contact with the tier on the hands of crew member Jarius Morehead, sending him flying into the hood of Hocevar’s car.

Fortunately, Morehead, who is a former NC State footballer, didn’t get injured and confirmed to FOX Sports‘ Regan Smith that he is good and safe, owing to his athlete past.

I come from a football background. You get used to it. … Yes sir, I am [OK]. All good.

Jarius Morehead said.

Josh Berry is disappointed in himself over the Talladega performance

The wild incident wasn’t the only disappointing incidents of the day for Berry as he was also disappointed due to his failed to produce a strong run. If not for his aggressive attempts late in the race, he would have been arcing for the win at the final laps and this makes him disappointed in himself.

Yeah, I mean, you know, obviously I’m disappointed in myself there,) I just, you know, just tried to get a little bit, you know, I was leading them to pit road. I knew we were in a great spot because that last whole cycle, you know, I felt like we did a really good job and saved a lot of fuel and then still had the track position by the end of it.

Josh Berry said after the race.

The star racer shouldn’t be discouraged, as he had a good enough run with the team and has strong momentum going into the remaining races of the season. It will be interesting to see how it’s going to playout for them.
