Aryna Sabalenka vs. Coco Gauff: Match Preview
Aryna Sabalenka will be playing her sixth final of the season. Prior to progressing to the Madrid Open summit clash, the Belarusian reached the finals of the Brisbane International, the Australian Open, Indian Wells, the Miami Open, and the Stuttgart Open.

She is bidding to win her third title of the season, following the Brisbane International and her first Sunshine Double title in Miami. Before the Madrid Open, she fell in straight sets in the Stuttgart Open final to Jelena Ostapenko.
Sabalenka was denied her three-peat in the Australian Open as Madison Keys secured a three-set win over her to clinch her career’s first Grand Slam title. Then she made early exits in the two tournaments she played on the Middle East Swing (the Qatar Open and the Dubai Open).
Coco Gauff, on the other hand, progressed to her first final since winning the WTA Finals last year by beating Qinwen Zheng. The 2023 US Open champion started the season in an emphatic fashion, registering a 9-0 win-loss record but since losing the Australian Open quarterfinal to Paula Badosa, she failed to win more than two matches in the next five tournaments she played.
She has won a title this year but it’s not in a singles tournament. Gauff chose to represent Team USA in the United Cup instead of singles events Down Under and helped her team beat Team Poland to win the title.
Aryna Sabalenka vs. Coco Gauff: Match Prediction
Aryna Sabalenka is the winner of 19 singles titles. Twice she has won on clay: both at the Madrid Open.

She emerged victorious for the first time in the tournament in 2021 by beating Ash Barty. Then in 2022, she lost her opening-round match against Amanda Anisimova. In 2023, she went past Iga Swiatek in the final and the following year, in what was the 2024 WTA Match of the Year, Swiatek saved three championship points to win her first Madrid Open title.
Coco Gauff, on the other hand, has reached her third clay-court final of her career. The upcoming match will be her first final on the red dirt since the 2022 French Open which she lost to Swiatek. Gauff is the winner of nine singles titles, one of which is the 2019 Emilia-Romagna Open she won on clay.
Sabalenka has met Gauff nine times on the tour and is 4-5 in the head-to-head matchups. The Madrid Open final will be their second meeting on clay following the 2021 Italian Open fourth round which the American won in straight sets. They last met each other in the semifinal of the 2024 WTA Finals, which Gauff won in straight sets.
Match Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win in three sets.
