Aryna Sabalenka is on cloud nine after her Madrid Open win. Regardless of her wins or losses, the Belarusian is never afraid to show her lighter side. This has been evident many times in 2025.

Recently, she was asked about the player she had played who generated more power than her. As expected, the Belarusian came up with a hilarious answer.

I don’t know (laughs). Maybe when I was training with the guys. I trained once with Rublev, it was very intense. I thought, ‘Okay, that’s it, we’re done.’ We finished in five minutes, so… Sometimes the key is not strength. You can hit very hard, but not in the right place. Men, of course, serve much harder.

Aryna Sabalenka said in an interview to Championat

Regardless of how much power Andrey Rublev generates, things are undoubtedly not going well for him so far in 2025. The Russian hired former World No. 1 Marat Safin to boost his results, but things have not clicked for him yet.

On the other hand, Sabalenka is comfortably the best player in the world today. Despite losing her Australian Open crown earlier this year, the right-hander has won two Masters 1000 titles this season and looks like the odds-on favorite to win her first Roland Garros title.

Aryna Sabalenka outclasses Coco Gauff

Serbian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka won her third Madrid Open title on Saturday. She beat fourth seed Coco Gauff with a 6-3, 7-6(3) victory. This was her third WTA title of the year. Sabalenka has now reached the Madrid Open final three years in a row.

By winning, Sabalenka matched Petra Kvitova’s record of three Madrid titles. She also evened the head-to-head record with Gauff. Both players have now won five matches against each other in their ten meetings.

Sabalenka started strong and won four games in a row to lead 4-1 in the first set. Gauff broke back once, but Sabalenka broke again to take the set 6-3. In the second set, Gauff went up 5-3 and had a chance to win it. But double faults while serving for the set hurt her. Sabalenka broke back, tied the score, and won in the tiebreak to seal the match.

Aryna Sabalenka’s earnings from Madrid Open revealed

World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka plans to celebrate her birthday early after winning the Madrid Open final against Coco Gauff. She turns 27 on Monday and said she will party with her team in Madrid. The next big tournament in Rome starts on Tuesday, but she’s still ready to enjoy the win.

Sabalenka had a strong start in the match, winning 17 points in a row. Gauff made many mistakes and got nervous while serving. Sabalenka had to save a set point but still won 6-3, 7-6(3). It was a tough match, but she stayed calm and finished strong.

Sabalenka was also motivated by the chance to win a new trophy. This is her third title in Madrid. With Iga Swiatek losing points and Gauff still struggling, Sabalenka is now the top player going into the French Open.

She earned €985,030 and 1,000 ranking points. Gauff earned €523,870 but will be upset about missing her chance. Sabalenka now leads the rankings by 4,345 points. Her strong grip on the WTA Tour continues.
