WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark returned to her home state of Iowa, where the Indiana Fever would take on the Brazilian National Team in their second preseason game. She did not play the first game to rest and prepare to dazzle fans at her alma mater.
15000 fans spent upwards of $400 to watch their hometown hero play in the same arena, which was home to her stellar collegiate career. No wonder they lined up before the game to get a glimpse of her and hope to get autographs.
When she was introduced to the crowd, her new Fever teammates understood how loud it can get inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. That crowd also cheered loudly as Clark went through her paces playing basketball for the first time in eight months.
As much as they cheered for her passes and her three-point shots, they had enough energy left in their tank when the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer took a few dribbles up the court and launched for a three. The entire building was buzzing as they saw Caitlin Clark launch from beyond her logo.
That 38-footer went in, and Clark brought her usual swagger as fans stood on their feet to applaud the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. She shot 4-6 from beyond the arc to end up with 16 points. All of that in just 19 minutes.

Skeptics might point out that this was against a Brazilian National Team clearly struggling to stay with the much faster Fever. They had just finished playing Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky the day before and were probably tired.
Caitlin Clark’s 38-footer has fans in awe
Basketball fans saw it differently. They believe any basketball star who has not played competitive games for the past eight months will show some signs of rust. But Clark looked effortless in the first game of her sophomore season. They also believe that if she racked up those stats in those short minutes, the WNBA will find out soon enough how much better she has become.
Fans remembered that she had been developing her game this past offseason. If this preseason ‘exhibition’ game is any indication, they believe she is going to have an MVP campaign. Check out examples of such comments below.

The crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena has witnessed Caitlin Clark single-handedly lead their Iowa Hawkeyes to two NCAA Championship games. They know what she is capable of, which is why they drove from all across the state to catch a glimpse of the most famous person from their state.
Clark appreciates her home state for showing out
From the moment Caitlin Clark landed at her alma mater, she understood how fans were waiting to catch a glimpse of her. She was also aware that they paid over the odds to see her, and she did not disappoint by taking time out to sign autographs during warmup.

She knows those fans are what have helped her become the most popular women’s athlete in the world. After the game, once she had time to wind down from the activities, she sent a tweet from her official X to show her love for those fans and her teammates.
What a day in Iowa City. Can’t say thank you enough to everyone who made it special for myself, but also my teammates… FEV SHOWWW

Caitlin Clark knows she is now a global star. The entire Brazilian National Team came over to ask for autographs and take pictures. All of this is reminiscent of how Michael Jordan and the Dream Team were back in 1992.
