Conor McGregor and his team are taking the cogs out of the coffin and really putting the nail in, in their defense. The ex-UFC double-division champ was found guilty of assault of one Nikita Hand. Now, McGregor’s legal team hopes to add new evidence to the appeal of his civil trial, which may throw the whole case into disarray.
Per RTE (›rte.ie/news) in Ireland, much of McGregor’s guilt revolved around the well-documented bruises Hand had all over her body when examined by medical personnel. The Irishman admitted under oath to his acquaintance, but not that he was part of an assault. He had even announced intentions to appeal, with a preliminary hint at presenting new tidbits.
During the trial, the Irish star’s litigators suggested (strongly) that it could be medication she took after jumping into a bathtub. Now, his legal team wants to present statements from neighbors across the street from Hand who claim they saw her partner assault her after the McGregor incident.
Ms. O’Reilly was alleging that she had seen a row from her bedroom window between Ms. Hand and her former partner on the night of 9 December 2018, into the early hours of 10 December 2018, …In her affidavit, Ms. O’Reilly claims she was woken up by screaming and shouting…Ms. O’Reilly described seeing Mr. Redmond push Ms. Hand and Ms. Hand fell to the floor. Ms. O’Reilly said she could not actually see Ms. Hand on the ground but said Mr. Redmond’s movements indicated that he was punching and kicking Ms Hand.
RTE, the Irish news channel, reported on Conor McGregor-Nikit Hand
Evidence that McGregor assaulted Hand in a Dublin hotel in December 2018 was deemed insufficiently robust by prosecutors to warrant a criminal trial. But, a Dublin Civil Court jury found the UFC superstar liable for the 2018 assault of Nikita Hand. The court levied him with just north of €248,000 in damages (£206,000 /$260,000 all-in).
Hand’s legal team is contesting the introduction of ‘new’ evidence. Additionally, Nikita Hand herself has filed an affidavit billing the neighbor’s claims as “untrue and are lies.” A full evaluation of the credibility of the new evidence is scheduled to take place on July 1. Attorneys for both sides will have wiggle room to cross-examine witnesses regarding the affidavits and further credibility of proof coming to light.
Former UFC featherweight king not interested in Bernabéu superfight against Conor McGregor anymore
Much of 2023 to 2024 was about how Spanish star Ilia Topuria was stitching it out to be the next ‘Conor McGregor.’ Akin to him, the European-style striker made Forbes España’s ’30 Under 30′ list and shot for the 155-pound gold against a Dagestani champ. But ‘Notorious’ himself chipped off some of his own notoriety in the past year.

The stuff with Nikita Hand is an organism of its own, still plaguing the UFC fighter. McGregor served an injunction to prevent the release of CCTV footage during the phase of his civil lawsuit hearing. He, however, cooperated later. The Irishman also paid €1,000 in 2019 for the assault of Desmond Keogh in a Dublin pub, a few DUIs, and a dolley throw.
McGregor might now postpone political aspirations and claim those with criminal histories and not aligned to Irish beliefs should be deported. But he has also been linked to the Kinahan drug gang several times over the years. Given all that, Topuria has already twice rejected a ‘Money Fight.’ Now, he would rather veer to UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett after a few run-ins:
But what excites me more is the fight with Paddy, really. Yeah, that fight excites me even more. And if they could put that fight in Spain, in the Bernabéu Stadium—I know that Dana doesn’t like to put events in stadiums, but that’s the only stadium in the world that they can close the roof. How many people? 80,000? You get 80,000 in Spain easy too. Yeah, if you’re fighting in Spain, no problem. Oh my God, that would be insane.

Scouser Pimblett made waves after a recent domination over Michael Chandler. Having already debuted in the top-15 athletes listings, he is a step away from being a proper top contender. Hence, Topuria, although opposed to the British fighter, finds him interesting. Alongside, an 80,000 seater PPV showdown sellout at the Bernabéu Stadium would be one for ages.
