Charles Barkley has seen Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors struggle late in the first round despite streaking to a 3-1 lead.

Charles Barkley’s colleagues laugh at his misinformed take on Stephen Curry

Charles Barkley does not believe Stephen Curry can score 50 points this late in the season

Stephen Curry has been one of the best players in all of basketball for more than a decade. His shooting and clutch plays have helped the Golden State Warriors win four NBA titles. However, analysts such as Charles Barkley have seen the 37-year-old struggle so far in the first round.

Curry was electric in the first two wins the Warriors notched in this series. In the next win, he struggled and ended up with just 17 points. His sore thumb had been a problem, and the Game 5 loss saw it impede him even more as he finished with just 13 points.

The Warriors lost Game 6 even though Curry managed to shake off that bad stretch to score 29 points. Inside the NBA, analyst Charles Barkley believes all of that is due to fatigue and injury. Ahead of the pivotal Game 7, he came up with this take.

You said he had those 50 points two years ago. That’s like five years ago, in NBA its like dog years, Steph is starting to wear down. I don’t think he is capable of getting 50.

Charles Barkley said

Hearing this, his colleagues reminded the Hall of Famer that Curry had two 50-point games this year. Again, Barkley reiterated.

I’m talking about now, this late in the season. This is not January and February. This is the playoffs, and he is wearing down. His hand is hurt.

Ernie Johnson again corrected the round mound of rebound by reminding him that Stephen Curry had a 50-point game in April. Barkley again tried to sound as if it were far away. But then his colleagues laughed at him as he did not realise April was just a month ago.

Charles Barkley believes the Warriors blew the series in Game 6

Charles Barkley was not done trying to discredit the Golden State Warriors. He saw how the Houston Rockets manhandled Stephen Curry and his teammates in Game 6. Believing how it changed the momentum of the series, the 62-year-old was not convinced.

I think they blew this series last game. Draymond, when he comes out doing stupid stuff, I’m like, ‘Uh oh’. They had to win Game 6 at home. I think the Rockets are going to win tonight.

Charles Barkley said

The ‘Bread Truck’ is known to have some mindboggling takes throughout his broadcasting career. But going by how the Warriors struggled in Games 5 & 6, he might have had a point there. He believes that momentum was enough to cost them this first-round series. However, it did not end up anything close to what he predicted.

Stephen Curry and Warriors flip the script on Barkley

Charles Barkley might have seen his ‘Steph not getting 50’ comment coming to fruition when he saw the 37-year-old struggle in the first half. He went scoreless for almost the entire first half and only shot his first with a long-range three with just 33 seconds left in the half.

Stephen Curry’s teammates knew he was struggling and stepped up to help the Warriors hold a double-digit lead at halftime. Their defense was even more impressive as they held the Rockets at bay. The Rockets tried to stage a rally in the third quarter to bring the lead down to single digits.

But in the fourth quarter, Curry stepped up his game. He scored fourteen of his twenty-two points in that quarter to stave off any chances of the Rockets staging a comeback. That burst was enough for the Golden State Warriors to hold on to the lead and win the series-clinching Game 7 with a 103-89 win, just as Magic Johnson predicted it.
