Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors looked lost in both Games 5 & 6. In the first of those, they stumbled to an early deficit and Steve Kerr saw enough to bench his starters. In Game 6, the Houston Rockets upped the ante and impressively won the game to send the series to Game 7.

With their backs against the wall, the Rockets brought out a different tactic and used Steven Adams to nullify the Warriors’ offense. Curry scored 29 points, however, his teammates could not get into the act as Adams and the Rockets stifled them.

The Warriors were at home, which meant Curry’s family was bound to be seated in the VIP area. They have been supportive every step of his basketball career, and Game 6 was no different. That time, his son, Canon, was sitting alongside his mother, Ayesha Curry.

However, his reactions after the game proved that he was upset that his father did not win the game. He was upset and clung to his mother. The four-time champion tried to console his son and reminded him that they still have a game to play on Sunday.

Knowing how much he appreciates his family in crucial games, Ayesha Curry, along with her mother-in-law, Sonya Curry, traveled with the Warriors contingent to Houston. This time, there was going to be no sad faces as the Warriors star upped the ante in the fourth quarter to win Game 7 103-89.

This time, the Curry ladies, along with Draymond Green‘s wife, Hazel, were cheering their men from the stands. Then, after the game, they took to the court to celebrate with Stephen Curry and his teammates. Now the Warriors star can return home happy knowing he kept his promise to his son.

Steve Kerr blown away by Stephen Curry’s resilience

Ahead of this pivotal Game 7, Hall of Famer Charles Barkley alluded that Stephen Curry is not fit enough to score 50 points at this stage of the season. His thoughts received some proof after the Golden State Warriors’ superstar nearly went scoreless in the first half.

However, he did not stand around waiting to score. He ran around all night chasing Houston Rockets players and getting in their faces. He brought some defensive resilience that helped his team keep the hot-handed Rockets at bay. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr reveals how his star player’s efforts still surprise him.

I’m blown away by Steph’s competitive fight at 37. Has 4 rings, gold medal, everything he could possibly want in this life, he has got. He has nothing to prove, and yet he’s gonna come in and try to prove something every single night. It’s amazing.

Steve Kerr said

Kerr believes Stephen Curry did not need to elevate his attention on defense. But did what was needed to be done so that his team could succeed. Then in the fourth quarter, he started to unleash his usual late-game scoring fury.

Curry shakes off cold start to get hot at the right time

Stephen Curry entered Game 7 knowing he had to help the Golden State Warriors upset the hot-handed Houston Rockets to reach the second round of the playoffs. However, he started cold and could not get a shot to enter the basket for much of the first half.

Only near the end of that half did he get a long three to fall in. Even in the third quarter, he was not exactly tearing the house down. All this while, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Buddy Hield helped to keep the Warriors ahead.

In the fourth quarter, when the Rockets turned their attention to those three, Curry started to get that extra inch of space to get his shots off. He ended up scoring 14 of the 22 points he had in the game. That means he scored 73% of his points in that quarter alone. It was the right time, and it ended up bringing the right result. Now they head home to rest for two days before traveling to Minneapolis for round 2.
