Last season, Anthony Edwards made a name for himself as one of the hottest young talents in the NBA. After defeating both Kevin Durant and Nikola Jokic in the playoffs, fans and media analysts were certain that he was stepping up to the plate of being the Face of the NBA.

In the first few months of this season, everyone noticed there was a drop in his performance. But he scoffed at any criticism, even trolling the great Charles Barkley for starting that rhetoric. It was as if Edwards knew what he was doing.

Barkley’s criticism was based on the Minnesota Timberwolves star’s extensive use of the three-point shot. The Hall of Famer believed Edwards’ not reverting to his driving game would deter his team. But slowly and steadily, his expansive game started to take shape.

The combination of his inside and outside game helped his team streak towards the end of the season to capture a playoff berth. Then, in the first round, they met LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Ahead of the series, the 23-year-old understood that the purple and gold franchise was the favorite.

He used that to drive him and his teammates, and they ended up defeating the Lakers 4-1. That meant he not only defeated another NBA legend in James but also won his second playoff duel against Luka Doncic. This led WWE superstar Randy Orton to release a graphic that read.

Legend Killer.

Randy Orton wrote

The graphic depicts Orton handing Anthony Edwards a chain with those words on it. The WWE star sees the NBA star as having a moniker similar to what he did early in his wrestling career. Then there is also the part that Edwards just defeated LeBron James, whom Orton despises.

Anthony Edwards next gunning for Stephen Curry

A Legend Killer is someone who goes after and destroys the reputation of legends in their respective sport. Anthony Edwards has seemingly done that against Kevin Durant and LeBron James. Now, he will face the third of the NBA Avengers.

After his Minnesota Timberwolves cemented their playoff semifinals berth, they waited to see who their opponents would be. Yesterday, it was finalized that Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors will face the Wolves in round 2.

That means the Atlanta native now has the chance to finish off his streak of defeating the NBA Avengers. If he can win against Stephen Curry and the Warriors, that Legend Killer nametag might become official. Then no one could stop him from claiming his right to the throne of the Face of the NBA.

Defeating one of the best teams of the past decade will be an accomplishment in itself. However, the two teams have a history, and his teammates might want to have a say in the series that starts on Tuesday, May 6th.

Wolves have beef with Warriors stars

Last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were intertwined with Draymond Green after he choked out Rudy Gobert. But there is more to that, as the Wolves have quite a bit going on in their building when it comes to wanting revenge, as Mike Conley pointed out.

I might not have the best appreciation for the whole Jimmy thing, I wasn’t here. But I do know what it means to the city, and Golden State as itself. Draymond and the whole choking people out, the stuff like that. It’s exciting. There’s going to be a lot of buzz.

Mike Conley said

The veteran guard is not one to talk about beef and other things associated with it. For instance, he has heard about the city’s stance towards former supertar Jimmy Butler, who happens to be on the Warriors now. But he knows the whole Draymond Green choking incident will play its part.

He might have said it lightly, but it is possible those incidents can come back to haunt the Golden State Warriors. Rudy Gobert showed that he can step up when needed. If he does the same, he could get the ultimate revenge on Green.
