Aussie legend and now-featherweight king in his second reign, Alexander Volkanovski, is the friendliest of names in the UFC competition bunch. Hence, it was weird when Volk took umbrage with Belal Muhammad a while back. Now, Volkanovski has seemingly relished Muhammad’s PPV title loss to Aussie compatriot Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315, on Saturday night in Montreal.
Alexander Volkanovski is no ‘Belal Muhammad’ hater, per se. But a while back, Volk exclusively told TheMacLife’s Oscar Willis that he rated then-UFC 304 PPV title challenger Muhammad as subpar to the champ. He even wanted to sub in as a PPV main event backup and (allegedly) didn’t attend to some of Muhammad’s calls.
Belal Muhammad, who had taken to his disruptor villain role after years of snub, took to dissing ‘Great’ on the ‘Anik & Florian’ Podcast with Jason Anik, Jon Anik & Kenny Florian | RTS. 132, hence starting an unlikely animosity. Now, Alexander Volkanovski has uploaded footage ( 🎥: @alexvolkanovski ) of him enjoying Jack Della Maddalena winning the course of the UFC 315 PPV main event.
Volk trained with Team Scrappy MMA’s Della Maddalena just a while back, right before his UFC 314 win. His animosity with ‘Remember the Name’ stems from a while back, though. Check the footage down below:

Other than a Muhammad-shaped friction, the Aussie bunch now make it 2-0 in the 2025 season PPV title scraps. Alexander Volkanovski himself won back his featherweight hardware just a numbered card back. Meanwhile, JDM is just the fourth historic UFC pool name from the Oceanic side of things to become champion. The others were Volk, Israel Adesanya, and Robert Whittaker.
JDM also has an ‘avenge Volk’ dynamic going on, with him (possibly) matching up to Volkanovski’s former two-time rival. UFC 155-pound champ Islam Makhachev and Della Maddalena have both placed each other in their sights after this Saturday. As for the ‘hate’ “Bully Belal” trend, does he deserve this much dogpiling?
Dana White Posts Gnarly Damage of Ex-champ Belal Muhammad After UFC 315 PPV Title Loss
Aussies have shifted north to 2-0 in UFC title fights after the UFC 315 PPV event headliner; Jack Della Maddalena himself might have quite a big super fight on the horizon. UFC backstage media cameras even captured the new champ coaxing UFC CEO and headman Dana White into such a matchup.

But what of Belal Muhamaad, though? His way back falls to UFC matchmakers now. Della Maddalena defeated Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46). It also marked Muhammad’s first competition slump since a UD loss vs. Geoff Neal in January 2019, ending a 10-fight streak. Barring, of course, his infamous 2021 NC poke.
As such, JDM showcased an improved all-out anti-wrestling game when dragged down on his back. He’d get up with stylistic counters and crisp shots. As for the immediate aftermath, Muhammad took one hell of a beatdown but showed mettle and a rock-hard chin. After the competitive war, White posted an image of Muhammad on his IG stories.

Della Maddalena used good boxing footing and head movement to deflect straight counters, for the most part. But Muhammad got the stretch of it, with a nasty uppercut and a R5 knee-in that caused quite a cut. With the scope of attention now shifting to Muhammad’s striking game, he might just switch it up back to wrestling in his immediate future.
