NBA players take part in a lot of activities once the NBA season is officially over. It may involve music concerts, appearing on other TV shows, taking part in light physical competitions, etc. But Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Haliburton met up at a WWE event last season.

SmackDown held an event at Madison Square Garden towards the end of June last year. In that event, Logan Paul brought out Haliburton to try and silence the New York faithful the way he did in the Eastern Conference semi-finals clash against the New York Knicks. But then, Brunson came out to silence him in the most WWE way possible.

Fans from both sports loved the script and wished the newfound rivalry would continue in the NBA. To help the losing side, the New York Knicks front office brought in major reinforcements. That helped many New Yorkers to believe that their team would be able to beat the Indiana Pacers and move on to win their first NBA title in more than five decades.

In the regular season, the Knicks did get the better of the Pacers and finished above them. But in the playoffs, both teams have proved that they are driven to make an impact. Both of them dismantled the top two teams in the East and booked their tickets to face each other in the Eastern Conference Finals.

On one hand, Tyrese Haliburton and his teammates excelled against the Cleveland Cavaliers. On the other hand, Jalen Brunson and his Knicks blew the defending champion Boston Celtics 119-81 at home to win the series.

Both the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have flipped the script on media and fan favorites to reach the ECF. Now, fans are hyped that they can witness this battle take place in the NBA. There was a point when both fans and the media were almost ignoring the East. But when one after another superstar NBA veteran exited the playoffs, that interest in the West started to die down. Fans were then alerted to what was happening in the East.

Now, after both the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks proved that they can mix it with the best, they will set up a must-watch Eastern Conference Finals. Adam Silver‘s NBA will have fan interest in both the West and the East as young teams with standout talent go at each other with a passion to win.
