Hailing from Athens, Greece, with Nigerian ancestry, Giannis Antetokounmpo moved to the States twelve years ago when he signed with the Milwaukee Bucks. In a short summary, he has stayed long enough to be a fan of a professional National Football League franchise.

The Bucks’ power forward has already been associated with the Green Bay Packers, the NFL team based in Wisconsin. During the offseason a couple of seasons ago, Antetokounmpo confessed that he was bored and announced he would love to try for the quarterback position for the Packers.

In a tweet addressed to the player, an X handle of a Californian, asked the player whether he has any favourite team since he has stayed in the country for far too long. Antetokounmpo was quick to respond, admitting he likes the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys’ support came as a curveball to many fans who didn’t expect the player to rally behind them. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo is an avid sports fan and really loves the English soccer team Arsenal.

Furthermore, he also has investments in the industry itself, not the NFL, though. He purchased some stocks in the Milwaukee Brewers, the MLB team from the city. He became the first individual investor in the club since Mark Attanasio purchased the Brewers back in 2005.

“Man, this is unbelievable. This is a dream come true for a kid from Sepolia, Athens, Greece, born from immigrant parents. I could have never imagined I would be in this position.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo said in the press conference

Antetokounmpo, along with three of his brothers, made a significant investment in the Nashville SC in 2023 ahead of the club’s fourth season. Antetokounmpo admitted that his father’s love for the sport led them to utilize the opportunity to support a soccer club. The investment group included yet another sports athlete, Filip Forsberg from the NHL.

Is a Dallas move expected for Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Giannis Antetokounmpo, in his twelve seasons with the team, has led them to ten postseasons, including an active streak of nine playoff appearances. He played a crucial role in the Bucks’ first-ever NBA championship since 1971, breaking a drought of almost half a century.

After twelve long seasons, the forward is currently associated with many teams as he is expected to meet the senior management and authority for a crucial meeting in the coming days.

The fact that there might be a potential trade makes Antetokounmpo’s tweet even more striking at this point. The Dallas Mavericks, who traded away Slovenian Luka Doncic just a few months back, are considered a potential landing spot for the star.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently noted that the Dallas Mavericks have been yearning for a power forward for a long time.

They’ve wanted Giannis in Dallas for years. They signed his brother, just thought I’d point that out.” Brian Windhorst noted

Kostas Antetokounmpo previously signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2018 before joining the Lakers. The latest draft lottery has added some ammunition and a chance to make this dream come true. The Dallas Mavericks were awarded the first pick.

As any kid watching the game or better has someone who loves the game in the house, Cooper Flagg is projected to be one of the best prospects since Victor Wembanyama. The Mavs can potentially trade Flagg as well as a couple more options to the Milwaukee Bucks, who are asset-drained and declining in form.

The rising noise about the trade has raised some suspicions about the tweet as well. After all, it’s a weird mix of speculations and subtle hints whenever a big name is up for a trade.
