(Video) CeeDee Lamb’s Ultimate Camaraderie with His New Receiving Partner George Pickens at Cowboys
There’s only room for one No. 1 receiver on the Dallas Cowboys — Lamb and Pickens need to settle that fast.

There’s no question that CeeDee Lamb is the undisputed number one wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. If there was any doubt, then just take a look at the number Lamb wears for the Cowboys.
Owner Jerry Jones gave Lamb the iconic number 88, previously worn by Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant. No one can deny that Lamb has successfully kept its legacy intact.
The 26-year-old crossed 1000+ receiving yards each of the last four seasons and earned a massive four-year, $136 million extension in 2024.
However, Cowboys fans can’t say the same about the other receivers their team drafted or signed during Lamb’s tenure. Veterans Michael Gallup, Brandin Cooks, and Amari Cooper came and went after a handful of appearances. Newbies Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin failed to establish themselves as the number two receiver.
So, Jones opted for the next best option. He traded for George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, the dilemma is that both Lamb and Pickens view themselves as the number one receiver. And receivers are like pregnant women who get cranky when people ignore them.
Pickens made his public appearance since the Cowboys trade. He and Lamb attended a charity event hosted by Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
A reporter asked Lamb who was the number one between him and Pickens. Lamb quickly answered, “We’re both ones.”

Pickens stood right next to him, and he agreed with Lamb’s answer.
The NFL banned CeeDee Lamb’s iconic celebration
Celebrations are part and parcel of a receiver’s life. They put a lot of thought into creating a celebratory move for themselves.

For instance, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders introduced the ‘Deion Shuffle,’ a dance move that the two-time Super Bowl winner never missed the chance to perform after a touchdown or an interception.
In recent years, Vikings WR Justin Jefferson popularized the ‘Griddy.’ He even trademarked it so that no one else can perform it during NFL games besides him.
Similarly, CeeDee Lamb picked out a celebratory move for himself. It was dubbed the ‘Nose Wipe.’ However, unlike Jefferson, the NFL has banned Lamb’s celebration because they deemed it as ‘unsportsmanlike conduct.’
The index finger slides horizontally under the nose in the path of the ops and ends with the thumb-down position. This gesture lets your team know you’re out for blood and to scare the ops away.
Urban Dictionary notes
NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent was asked to clarify the league’s stance.
[The ‘nose wipe’] has gang connotations; it’s disrespectful… If anybody Googled ‘nose wipe,’ you’ll see the language that is used and where that’s affiliated. I think the players know better. I know they know better.

Lamb later tweeted that he had a couple of other celebrations in mind.

Cowboys fans are eagerly waiting for the new era in Dallas to begin. Following their disastrous 7-10 record in 2024, Jones got rid of Mike McCarthy and appointed former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as head coach.
The Cowboys missed quarterback Dak Prescott due to injury. He signed a record extension last year and wants to prove that the Cowboys can match the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the high-flying Washington Commanders in the division.
