The Western Conference Final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars produced another major moment. In Game 2, Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse would slash Roope Hintz, leaving the Stars’ man injured. This incident has left NHL fans in splits.
Tensions have been high between these two teams in this series. Things got heated at the end of Game 1 a few days ago. A late scrum broke out between the two sets of players, resulting in two-minute minor penalties for 6 players.
Following the loss in Game 1, the Oilers bounced back in this game. The reigning Western Conference champions took the game by a 3-0 scoreline and shut out their opponents in the process.
The big talking point from this game, though, has been the slashing incident involving Darnell Nurse and Roope Hintz. The incident took place in the third period when the Oilers were in control of the game.
Nurse would deliver a slash to the leg of Hintz, leaving the Stars forward down. A medical trainer would later come out to assist Hintz. After staying down for a few moments, Hintz was helped off the ice by his teammates Mikael Granlund and Lian Bichsel.

He would head down to the tunnel and was forced to exit the game. The officials would review this play for a potential major penalty. They later gave Nurse a 2-minute minor penalty for slashing his opponent.

It now remains to be seen whether Hintz will be able to take part in Game 3 or not. The 28-year-old forward is a crucial member of the team’s offense and has 5 goals and 6 assists in 15 playoff games this year.
Stars’ player admits that he did not like Darnell Nurse’s slash on teammate Roope Hintz
In Game 2, Roope Hintz found himself on the receiving end of a slash from Darnell Nurse. The Finnish international would be forced to exit the game after going down with a hit. Following the game, a Stars player admitted that he did not like this hit from Nurse and dragged Connor McDavid‘s name.

While speaking to The Athletic’s Mark Lazerus, forward Jamie Benn came to the support of his teammate. He seemingly expressed that things would be different had McDavid received that slashing hit and walked down the tunnel like that.
