Tyrese Haliburton is having a whale of a time. He has orchestrated his Indiana Pacers to two stellar playoff series wins over good title-contending teams. Now he is helping his team gain an edge in the battle against the New York Knicks.
In the first game, he could not get it going in the first half. But in the second, with his team trailing by 14 with 3 minutes to go, he willed them to mount a comeback. With help from Aaron Nesmith, Haliburton helped them reduce the deficit and have the final possession in regulation.
In that final possession, the guard nearly lost the ball, regained possession, stepped back towards the three-point line, and launched a shot. The ball bounced high off the backside of the rim and came down touching nothing else but net. Immediately, he ran towards the other side enacting Reggie Miller‘s famous ‘choke’ gesture.
However, replays pointed out that his right toe had touched the three-point line. That meant it was going to be counted as a two. The game would go into overtime. But Haliburton and his teammates finished the job in OT to win Game 1. After the game, his girlfriend Jade Jones posted on Instagram with this caption:
Finally got to see the ball drop in NYC.

Her caption summed up her feelings as her boyfriend’s ball dropped the gauntlet on the New York Knicks, giving the passionate fanbase a harrowing experience watching their team lose a game they had in their bag. This was a troll that drew applause from many including ESPN’s Malika Andrews.
Tyrese Haliburton and Pacers prepared for this moment in the offseason
This is not the first time Tyrese Haliburton and his Indiana Pacers were in the Eastern Conference Finals. Last season, they reached the Finals after defeating the New York Knicks in the second round. But in the Finals, their leading superstar was injured and they were swept 4-0 by the eventual champions, the Boston Celtics.

After their Game 2 win over the Knicks, a video resurfaced of the Pacers engaging in offseason workouts at Pascal Siakam‘s home in Orlando. He has a private basketball court, and all the players, including rookie draft pick Johnny Furphy, gathered to work on their game.
Siakam preached about not resting on their laurels and working hard towards the ultimate goal. The video shared on his Instagram page shows all the players sweating it out, trying to understand their nuances and figuring out how to play better.
The result saw them improve from 6th in the East to finish fourth. Their playoff run so far has been more impressive, and it seems they were holding back from revealing their true form until the postseason. Now they are in a position to advance to their first NBA Finals since 2000.
Tyrese Haliburton and Pacers hope history repeats itself for them
The Indiana Pacers winning the first two games of this Eastern Conference Finals has pushed the New York Knicks back into a corner. Both those losses were in their famed Madison Square Garden, where their passionate fans cheered them through every possession.
Now, they will face the Indiana fans who have been hungry to dish it back to the Knicks fans for how they treated one of their own. Tyrese Haliburton has made sure that fan gets his due and will watch Game 3 in Gainbridge Fieldhouse on the invitation of the Pacers’ superstar.

All of them will be hoping that history repeats, as no team that has lost the first two games at home has come back to win a Conference Finals. The Pacers hope they can carry this momentum to win the series in the next two games to give their fans the excitement they have longed for.
