Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever teammate Lexie Hull have built a strong friendship ever since the superstar guard came from college.

When Caitlin Clark left Iowa to move to the WNBA, she left behind close friends who were part of her close circle for years. They grew together through their teenage years, therefore their bond was strong. Then, when she came to the Indiana Fever, she clicked with Lexie Hull and Katie Lou Samuelson.
Samuelson left before the start of the season after she found herself in a tricky position regarding playing time once the Fever brought in DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. Clark would have appreciated if she the UConn alum stayed, especially after building a good relationship during the Olympic break.
Now, she and Lexie Hull remain, and the reigning Rookie of the Year has taken time in the offseason to go to events with her new bestie. Clark even trolled Hull by suggesting that the Stanford alum is a miser and avoids paying for dinner checks. It seems the 2nd year guard is on the lookout for opportunities to troll her friend.
The Indiana Fever welcomed the defending champion New York Liberty to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for their clash on May 24th. With the Indy 500 set to take place in their city on the following day, Lexie Hull sported an Indy 500 jacket to their game and posted those photos on her Instagram page with the caption:
Racing through the first week of the season.

Lexie Hull was trying to suggest that she raced through the first week of the 2025 WNBA season, much like how the Indy 500 would race the following day. Those four games went by quickly, which probably prompted her to write this caption.
Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffery react to Lexie Hull’s post
As soon as Lexie Hull’s post went online, it quickly drew traction as it featured her game fits not just from this game, but also from the games so far. Caitlin Clark‘s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, was one of the first to spot the photo dump and reacted:
Clever caption.
Connor McCaffery commented
Then his girlfriend decided to give her own comment.
Eat then.
Caitlin Clark replied
The 23-year-old superstar was either trolling Hull’s caption by suggesting that she should eat, considering how she had raced through the first four games, expending all that energy. Or it could be that Clark felt her Indiana Fever teammate was slaying it with her tunnel fits and asked her to eat up all the fame she was receiving.

Either way, it goes to prove that Caitlin Clark has built a pretty strong friendship with her teammate over the past year. Lexie Hull was one of the first to help the then-rookie get adjusted to life in a new city. That helped them start this friendship.
Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull are part of the young Fever core
With a new CBA set to come into effect before the 2026 season, most of the players on the Indiana Fever are on expiring contracts. They all want to be able to take advantage of the new CBA to garner much better contracts than what they currently earn.

That could mean that those players who will become free agents will move to other teams depending on how this season goes. If they feel they are in the right system and are happy to play for the Fever, they could stay.
Either way, they are not part of the long term core of this team. That core comprises of Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull. Rookie Mikayla Timpson might be a part of it, but a lot of that depends on how she plays for them this season.
The franchise’s top brass knows this is the group they have to build around. Any free agent decisions they take will be based on the needs of this group. Which means this friendship between Clark and Hull looks set to continue for years to come.
