Dez Bryant never shies away from voicing his opinion on the internet. The retired Dallas Cowboys wide receiver took issue with the NFL’s Pride Month campaign. In his view, the league’s agenda-driven stance has no place in football.
In 2021, the NFL released a video to celebrate inclusivity in football. “Football is gay. Football is lesbian. Football is beautiful. Football is queer. Football is transgender. Football is for everyone,” the NFL sent a message through the video.
Several NFL franchises came forward, supporting the NFL’s efforts to spread awareness on the issues of the LGBTQ community. Clubs such as the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organized Pride Walks.
Bryant supports inclusivity, but dislikes the NFL imposing it on football and fans. The four-year-old video ticked off the retired Pro Bowl wideout.
Football is gay. Football is queer. Football is transgender. These are wild statements to make.. [Well] Excuse my silliness. I’m going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays but this is far from right.

Several in the comment section agreed with Dez Bryant calling out the NFL. One user wrote: “The NFL is losing thousands of fans with each one of these asinine propaganda campaigns.” Another wrote: “I think ‘Football doesn’t care if you’re x, Football is for everyone.’ Would be more apt.”
However, there were a few who didn’t share the same view as Bryant.
Dez Bryant doubles down on his Pride Month take
The 36-year-old did not back down from his stance. He fired back at the comments that called him out for criticizing the Pride Month campaign.

It’s gay players in the NFL.. But forcing it in people’s faces.. Especially children.. Can send the wrong message… Football is a real community, like the gay community. Imagine telling gays they have to advocate for straight people.. They probably would have a problem.

This wasn’t the first time Bryant, who spent eight seasons with the Cowboys, spoke on the sensitive topic of homosexuality.
Bryant grew up in a household where his mother, Angela, was reportedly a homosexual and an addict. Even though he accepted his mother’s preferences, Bryant views the subject of homosexuality through the lens of God.
God said Adam wasn’t meant to be alone so he made Eve… They both have certain parts for a reason. You have men trying to get pregnant. That’s not what’s up. I don’t have problems with gays [but these are] Just my beliefs.

The Cowboys drafted Dez Bryant from Oklahoma State in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. He made 113 appearances for America’s Team, wearing the iconic number 88, previously worn by Hall of Famer Michael Irvin.
After leaving the Cowboys in 2017, Bryant spent one season on the New Orleans Saints‘ IR list before moving to the Baltimore Ravens, where he retired after six appearances.
Bryant, a three-time Pro Bowler, caught 537 passes for 7506 yards (14 yards per catch) for 75 touchdowns.
