The wait is finally over for fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers! Aaron Rodgers has made it official that he will be signing with the franchise shortly. The 41-year-old quarterback has put an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his future by inking a one-year deal worth $19.5 million with the Steelers.

The expectations are high for the 41-year-old quarterback. In what is expected to be his final season in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers will be expected to go out with a bang by making one final run to win his second Super Bowl. Despite the optimism on the part of the fans, one former NFL quarterback does not think the Steelers will be anywhere near the Super Bowl.

Notable analyst and retired NFL quarterback Chase Daniel expects a 9 or 10-win season from the new-look Steelers. He does not see this team beating the Baltimore Ravens or the Cincinnati Bengals, considering both have better rosters than the Steelers.

Playoffs is going to be a stretch I think. 9-10 wins maybe but third in their division, Ravens are winning it, I think the Bengals are going to be better, Steelers, and then you got the Browns. Third in your division, in the AFC North, I don’t think it makes you to a playoffs. They’re not going to be world beaters because Rodgers signed, I do think they are going to be better than what they were…but they lost their leading passer, leading rusher, and leading receiver…

Daniel said on FS1’s The Facility

From his perspective, Rodgers improves the Steelers, but not to an extent where this team should be considered a legitimate Super Bowl contender. The AFC North is competitive. The Baltimore Ravens are coming back stronger than last year, and so are the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chase Daniel believes the Steelers lost more this off-season than they gained by signing Rodgers

After the signing of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the Bengals offense will continue to spearhead the team’s efforts to return to the Super Bowl. If the top two spots are bagged by Baltimore and Cincinnati, respectively, it leaves Pittsburgh with very little chance of making it to the postseason.

For the last four years, Najee Harris led the Steelers’ running attack, however, he was traded to the Los Angeles Chargers. George Pickens, the star wideout of the team, too, has signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The team has lost its star rusher and receiver. Chase Daniel shared some concerning numbers to support his argument.

The last three times that it had happened where a team lost their passer, rusher, and receiver, those teams finished 2-15, 3-13, 5-11, that dates back to 2018…Aaron Rodgers might have some flashes…but I’m really interested to break it down, what the relationship between Aaron Rodgers and Arthur Smith will be like.

Daniel added

The analyst is not sure how the chemistry between Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, will work out. Daniel believes that Smith is capable of doing well with Rodgers due to his success in working with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, two quarterbacks with varying play styles. However, he is not buying into the narrative that Aaron Rodgers makes Pittsburgh a Super Bowl contender.

Despite the addition of Rodgers and DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh will have to prove that this new duo can perform. On the defensive side, the team will do just fine. However, there is no denying that this team would have been better with Najee Harris and George Pickens playing on it. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers fare this year.
