The Dallas Mavericks won the lottery held on May 12 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, earning them the first choice in the June NBA draft. They now have the chance to bolster their squad, which already includes Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, with Cooper Flagg, a forward who was named to the Duke Blue Devils’ first-team All-American.

Now, NBA star Draymond Green hopped on this matter lately at the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. Majorly because, months after Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Mavs surprisingly got the 1st pick, something that did not sit right with many NBA fans. Green, in addition, is also one of those who is left baffled by this.

In a hilarious conversation with Kimmel on the show, the Warriors star admitted that he may be a ‘little suspicious’ of his close friend and the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver.

I still consider Adam Silver a friend, so I’m not going to do him like that but it may be a little suspicious, a tiny bit(laughs).

Draymond Green said

The reason much talk has been made of the Mavs is mainly because they will be getting an outstanding player in Cooper Flagg, should they pick him(which they will). Flagg’s freshman year with the Duke Blue Devils was nothing short of outstanding, and rival fans know the Mavs may receive a future star on their roster in the coming months.

As the #1 overall recruit in the country, Flagg lived up to the hype by leading Duke to a 35-4 record and a trip to the Final Four while taking home honors like ACC Player of the Year and Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year. However, as everyone is aware, his impact in the contemporary world extended far beyond the court.

Even though he failed to guide the team to a national title, Flagg led the team in all major categories. In addition, he cemented his status as the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft with an average of 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game.

Adam Silver clears conspiracy theories about the Mavs getting 1st lottery draft pick

As reported, the Mavs won the 1st lottery draft pick ahead of many NBA teams, leaving the NBA community surprised. Dallas’ victory was questioned by some as unfair since they had a lower chance of being selected than the top-seeded Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards. NBA commissioner Adam Silver stands by the Mavericks’ victory in spite of the skepticism.

I want to remind you that we call it the lottery because it must have been a one-and-a-million chance that Dallas was going to win. Remember, the worst-performing team had a 14 percent chance of winning, so there was an 86 percent chance they wouldn’t get it.

Adam Silver said on Fox Sports

Many believe that the lottery was rigged in Dallas’ advantage, as the team made a surprise trade on February 1st for forward Anthony Davis, sending consistent All-Star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. However, with Silver putting all those rumors to bed, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, will host the NBA draft on June 25 and 26. ABC and ESPN will cover the opening round.

Draymond Green made a strong Kevin Durant announcement in a recent appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show

Draymond Green spoke about various issues in and around the NBA on his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. One of them involved his reaction to the epic Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade deal. However, at the start, Green was left baffled as he thought he was reuniting with his old friend, Kevin Durant, at the Warriors.

Green claims that the news came while he was at the Warriors’ yearly charity poker event.

We were at the poker tournament, and I had just seen Joe Lacob—our owner—about ten minutes before.

Draymond Green said

Draymond, I think we’re going to get Kevin Durant; it’s right there at the finish line.

Jacob Lacob told him

With high hopes of hearing positive news about a possible Durant reunion, Green took a seat at a table. Just 15 minutes later, Green found out that the trade deal went through, but it was not what he expected. The trade that took place was for Luka Doncic and not Durant, leaving Green disappointed and shocked at the same time.
