On Friday night, things got heated between Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines. Biles, the gymnastics champion, blasted the swimmer and labeled her a “bully” while speaking on the trans athletes sports controversy.

The inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports has been a major talking point over the past few years. Gaines, who faced off against trans swimmer Lia Thomas in 2022, has been highly vocable about this topic.

The former University of Pennsylvania swimmer has become an activist and has often spoken on the exclusion of trans athletes in girls’ and women’s sporting events. On Friday, Gaines would also again use her X account to speak on this matter.

She would repost a tweet from the Minnesota State High School League. The post featured the Champlin Park, the Class AAAA Softball State Champion for 2025. While reposting this on X, Gaines took a dig at them for shutting off their comments by claiming that their star player was a “boy.

Comments off lol To be expected when your star player is a boy

It was not the only tweet Gaines had made about this team. Before this, she pointed out that the pitcher of the team was a “dude named Marissa.”

Biles did not seem to like this and snapped at Gaines later on. The 7-time Olympic Gold medalist blasted Gaines and called her a “sore loser” on X.

@Riley_Gaines_ You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!

Simone Biles later urged Riley Gaines to ‘bully’ someone of her size

A heated back-and-forth between Simone Biles and Riley Gaines was probably not on the bingo card of many people. The two women were involved in a massive war of words on social media on Friday. After blasting her, Biles would urged Gaines to ‘bully’ someone of her size.

Biles, the 2nd most decorated female Olympic gymnast, was not happy with the words from Gaines regarding the trans athletes. The 28-year-old once again called her a “bully” and took a personal swipe at the activist.

bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male @Riley_Gaines_

Gaines would later hit back at Biles. Since the two tweets from her, the former Kentucky swimmer has sounded off on her and punched back.

Riley Gaines labels Simone Biles’ takes as “disappointing”

Riley Gaines and Simone Biles exchanged some heavy jabs in a social media spat. After the two tweets from Biles, Gaines would respond to both of them and called the takes of the Olympic athlete as “disappointing.

While replying to her first tweet, Gaines would claim that it was not her “job” to find ways to include “man” in their sports.

This is actually so disappointing. It’s not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces. You can uplift men stealing championships in women’s sports with YOUR platform. Men don’t belong in women’s sports and I say that with my full chest.

While responding to Biles’ “bully” someone of your size tweet, Gaines would defend her comments and expressed that her take was the least “controversial” one.

This is so disappointing. My take is the least controversial take on the planet. Simone Biles being a male-apologist at the expense of young girls’ dreams? Didn’t have that on my bingo card. Maybe she could compete in pommel horse and rings in 2028.

Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. Gaines was among several women’s athletes and young girls who were present at the time when Trump penned down this order.
