Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, had one of the toughest years as a rookie during the 2024-25 NBA season. Bronny was selected as the 55th overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2024 NBA draft, but he did not make an impact for his side. Notably, as both of his sons, Bronny and Bryce James, approach pivotal points in their early basketball careers, LeBron James shared their developmental plan.
Bronny James spent a significant amount of his season in the G-League after being selected by the Lakers in the second round last year. Before joining the team’s full-time rotation, the Lakers said Bronny needed time to develop. The King discussed his coaching strategy for Bryce and Bronny during this critical developmental stage on the “Mind the Game” podcast.
I’ve never went to a practice and sat through practice the whole time to see how my son was being utilized. I never got on the phone with the coaches. Listen, he’s there to coach my son, coach him however you want to. And I think you need to hold him accountable. I hope you hold him more accountable than any other kid here, and say what the (expletive) you need to say, no matter how it’s being said.

Bronny averaged 21.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 11 games with the South Bay Lakers. Although Bronny is under pressure to earn a full-time roster berth, his performance significantly alarmed those who questioned whether he had earned a spot on the team.
As for the younger brother, Bryce will be playing basketball for the University of Arizona in college. LeBron’s younger son is expected to live up to the hype. After his freshman year, he might be selected in the draft if he has a strong season at Arizona, which would allow him to join his father on the Lakers.
Given how much power he could have on his sons’ growth if he so desired, James’s rather detached style is intriguing. There appears to be a polite limit that permits coaches to handle LeBron’s sons the same way they do everyone else, even though the King does exercise with his sons and offers some coaching.
LeBron James provided a detailed explanation regarding his skill set to his critics
Being one of the best players at the age of 40 surely brings a lot of criticism and doubts from people. This is exactly what LeBron James is facing. Critics claim that James lacks “a bag,” which refers to the skill-based maneuvers that other superstars appear to have.
In response to those critics, James attempted to minimize the significance of possessing a highly developed skill set on a recent episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast.
When I was growing up, it wasn’t talked about. The least amount of dribbles to get to where you need to get to was what I grew up watching. Michael Jordan wasn’t dribbling 1,000 times to get to his spot and raise. Isiah Thomas, as great of a handle as Isiah Thomas had, Isiah would get to his spot and raise. All these guys that I grew up watching, Grant Hill can get to his spot and bury you. [Glenn] Robinson, I get to my spot and I’m burying you.

Moreover, James has maintained his success at the age of 40, despite not having the same amount of scoring ability as some others. He shot 51.3% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range, averaging 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game. This showcases the talent, hard work and mentality James has instilled inside him to perform even at this age in the NBA.
Shaquille O’Neal made a clear admission about the Lakers’ star, LeBron James
Shaquille O’Neal was asked to list his all-time NBA starting five during a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast. O’Neal chose a roster that was full of power, but there was nevertheless one noteworthy omission: LeBron James. However, O’Neal did make it clear on the show that he was not ‘trying to diss anyone.’
[Stephen] Curry at the one,” O’Neal said. “Kobe [Bryant] at the two. [Michael] Jordan at the three. Tim Duncan at the four and me at the five. Nobody’s beating that team. I don’t know how your guy’s going to edit it,” O’Neal stated. “But let’s just say I did that to somebody that didn’t like us, and then they’ll lead off with ‘Shaq excludes LeBron.’ And it causes like unnecessary beef… I hate doing these lists because I don’t want people to think I’m dissing them.

It was an intriguing choice to leave LeBron James out, and O’Neal handled it right away. Given that, O’Neal made a terrific team even without James, who has claimed four titles, four Finals MVPs, four MVPs, one shooting title, and one assist title in his career. Still, leaving out James was a massive call by O’Neal to take on the podcast show.
