When it comes to facing trolls and haters, there is no one more adept at handling them than Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. The forward has made it a habit of waiting for the right moment and then clapping back at those who either made fun of her, or even went to extreme ends to show their dissent.
She has been facing her critics since her college days. In those initial days, Angel Reese tried to handle them in the best way possible. However, she also broke down when she could not take it anymore and revealed what she had been subjected to.
Since moving to the WNBA and being guided by NBA great Shaquille O’Neal, it seems Reese has taken a different route. She has time and again pounced on her critics when the time is right. The most recent being when she was bludgeoned on social media for continuing to gather her own rebounds.
All of this stemmed from her inefficient shooting in the first few games. Reese was chucking up shots at a career low 30% from the field. However, over the past few games, those numbers have improved, and she took the perfect opportunity after her first career triple-double to clap back at those haters.

Now she has taken another step to essentially ‘checkmate’ her haters. The LSU star has filed for a trademark through her LLC for the word ‘Mebounds’. If she is successful in getting the trademark, she can then use it on merchandise. By doing this, she is essentially flipping the trolls by using a word they coined to her benefit.
Angel Reese could potentially make six-figure revenue with ‘Mebounds’ merchandise
When clapping back at her haters, Angel Reese revealed that if she were to make ‘Mebounds’ a brand, she could potentially make six figures out of it. At the time, fans wondered what she meant, but going by this latest trademark filing, it seems she was dead serious about turning a troll into a business.
The Chicago Sky star has proved she is savvy when it comes to business decisions. For instance, she pounced on the opportunity with Reebok to create a signature line, knowing she would have a first mover advantage over any other women’s athlete the brand signs.
Of course, the deal happened because of the influence of Shaquille O’Neal. But even then, influence is one thing. When the likes of Nike and Adidas come swirling, their initial numbers are usually higher than what Reebok can pay.
Then she partnered with brands that connect with her fan base. Reese’s Pieces and McDonald’s hit closer to home rather than a Wilson basketball deal or Gatorade. Therefore, this ‘mebounds’ brand could become a hit amongst her fans, as they know more than anyone how this hits the trolls where it matters.
Angel Reese and Sky could continue winning run against Mystics
All of these victories for Angel Reese are coming off their stellar win against the Connecticut Sun. Some might point out that the Chicago Sky have only won against teams below them in the standings. However, those wins came about after considerable changes to the roster and their schemes.

The team also lost starting point guard and veteran leader Courtney Vandersloot to a season-ending injury. Despite all that, they are soldiering on with a vision that could start taking shape anytime soon. One of the ways they can speed up the vision is by continuing to win games.
In their next encounter, the Sky will face the 4-7 Washington Mystics. Winning against them might not be easy, but if Angel Reese and her teammates play the way they did against the Sun, they should be in a good position to win.
