Lamar Jackson is now a two-time league MVP and is about to embark on a season where the pressure is on him to win a Super Bowl. To help him hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy, the Baltimore Ravens have dipped into the offseason to reinforce their squad.
GM Eric DeCosta and his team set about to reinforce the defense. They brought in corner Chidobe Awuzie and picked safety Malaki Starks in the first round of the 2025 Draft. After those additions, many consider the Ravens’ secondary to be one of the best in the league.
The Ravens completed most of their roster moves early to avoid landing in a bidding war for any potential target. However, Jackson was notified at the recent press conference after practice that the Green Bay Packers had released star cornerback Jaire Alexander.
Go get him, Eric. I love all of our corners, don’t get me wrong, but go get him, Eric.
Lamar Jackson said to the reporters
Jackson and Alexander played together on the Louisville Cardinals for two seasons. Since then, they have come into the NFL and established themselves as top players. Now the latter finds himself without a job after spending six seasons with the Packers.

The Baltimore Ravens have enough players to lean on in their secondary. However, if they want, they can use a bit of the roughly $19 million cap space at their disposal to bring in their most important player’s close friend and former teammate, just to give him that extra bit of motivation.
Lamar Jackson and Ravens will seek vengeance next season
Jackson was awarded his third Pro Football Writers’ Association MVP award yesterday. He might have missed out on his third AP league MVP, but the 28-year-old is more focused on a Super Bowl than anything. He reminded ESPN’s Jamison Hensley about their goal this season.
We’re going to bounce back. And when we come back, I feel like we’re going to have vengeance on our mind.
Lamar Jackson said
The superstar QB reminded Hensley that there was a time when everyone questioned if Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens could win playoff games. They did, but then the next question was if they could take it all the way. The Florida native believes that they are looking to answer all those questions this season.

Whether Jaire Alexander joins the Ravens or not, they still have a standout defense to work with. Lamar Jackson also knows that his offense is in better shape than before. Once they work towards figuring out what let them down in the past, they should be fine.
Lamar Jackson had high praise for DeAndre Hopkins
GM Eric DeCosta did not just reinforce the defense. He went after players he felt could help Lamar Jackson and the offense improve. The most notable of those additions is veteran wideout DeAndre Hopkins, and the star QB was beaming when talking about him.

Man, that guy’s dope, man, he’s different. I threw him a shallow today, he caught the ball so smooth, got up. I don’t think he put his other hand on the ground to get up. He just caught the ball and started running. That’s some super vet-type stuff.
Lamar Jackson said
The three-time 1st team All-Pro was excited at the prospect of throwing a lot of touchdowns to DeAndre Hopkins. Having a veteran wide receiver who was also a perennial All-Pro like him is a blessing. Last season, Hopkins’ much-hyped time with the Kansas City Chiefs did not coincide with a Super Bowl win.

The 33-year-old was brought in so that he could help guide the already good wide receiver room at the Ravens’ facilities to take the next step. If they manage to do that, both Jackson and Hopkins could celebrate with confetti in February.
