The Edmonton Oilers suffered another heartbreak on Tuesday night. The Canadian side ended up getting thrashed 5-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final and lost to the Florida Panthers once again. Following the loss, head coach Kris Knoblauch claimed that there is “no silver lining” after this.
The Oilers and Knoblauch last year found themselves 3-0 down in the series. They came back to level it up at 3-3 but then lost Game 7 with a game winner from Sam Reinhart. The 29-year-old was once again the hero for the Panthers.
He opened the scoring in this Game 6 against the Oilers and added 3 more to match an NHL record. His 4 goal showing propelled his side to a 2nd successive final victory over the Oilers.
While speaking to the media after the game, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch did admit that the loss hurts them. He also expressed that maybe his team were the ‘underdogs‘ in the other series they took part in the playoffs this year.
There’s no silver lining to this, it’s still heart-wrenching. It’s very difficult to handle right now. We were maybe the underdogs going to the LA series, underdogs against Vegas and the Dallas series. It hurts right now, and I don’t think it’s gonna let up for a while.

Connor McDavid drops huge NSFW message following another final loss to the Panthers
The Edmonton Oilers were once again left empty-handed. The Western Conference champions were blown away by their opposition in this best-of-seven series. Oilers captain Connor McDavid would drop a huge NSFW message while trying to explain the reason for his team’s loss.

After winning Game 1 in overtime, it seemed momentum was finally on their side and that this could be the year where the Stanley Cup returned to Edmonton. However, the Panthers came roaring back and thumped the Oilers to repeat as champions.
In the post-match interview, McDavid lauded the Panthers for their performance and dropped a huge F-bomb while expressing that he and his team kept on trying the same thing.
Their forecheck was great. They tilted the rink. They were able to kind of stay on top of us all over the place. Never really able to generate any momentum up the ice. We kept f****** trying the same thing over and over again, just banging our heads against the wall. So credit to them.

Connor McDavid scripts unwanted piece of NHL history after 2025 Stanley Cup Final loss
It was not meant for Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers once again. After losing in the 2024 Final, they were unable to exact revenge on the Florida Panthers as they suffered another final loss. McDavid, the captain of the team, scripted an unwanted piece of history with this loss.

In the past 50 years, there have been several instances where teams have gone back-to-back and repeated as champions. For the Oilers, the opposite happened as they suffered successive losses in the finals.
McDavid, unfortunately, became the first NHL captain to lose 2 successive finals in the last 50 years. Before this loss, no captain in the NHL since 1975 had suffered 2 successive losses.
Every captain who's lost in back-to-back Cup Finals, last 50 years:
