Taylor Fritz recently won his first title of the season at the Stuttgart Open. Interestingly, he is the first player to win a title in 2025 without getting broken all tournament. This marks his fourth title on grass and his ninth career title. With this win, Fritz improved his head-to-head record against Alexander Zverev to 8-5, also winning his last five matches against the German.

Fresh off the Stuttgart victory, World No. 4 Fritz, however, was stunned in his opening match in his next tournament at Queen’s against French qualifier Corentin Moutet. The victory marks Moutet’s second against Top 10 opponents.

His only other Top 10 win in 16 previous attempts came against then-No. 10 Holger Rune this May at the Italian Open. Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash has, however, ruled out Fritz’s chances as a future Wimbledon champion while speaking live on BBC Two:

No, I really don’t see it, he’s a very tough, solid player who will give you everything, but I don’t see him as a future Wimbledon champion.

Cash won his maiden and only Grand Slam title in the 1987 Wimbledon championships defeating Ivan Lendl in straight sets. Fritz has never progressed beyond the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. His best run at a Grand Slam came at the 2024 US Open where he reached the finals, eventually losing to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner.

Pat Cash analyzes the change Carlos Alcaraz has made since winning Roland Garros

Pat Cash, commentating over Carlos Alcaraz’s marathon win over compatriot Jaume Munar at Queen’s has noticed a key change that the 22-year-old has made since his Roland Garros triumph. Clocking three and a half hours, the match against Munar marked the longest best-of-three match that Alcaraz has played in 2025.

Alcaraz struggled through the first set, which he won 6-4, but was pegged back in the second as Munar snatched the tiebreak in the next set. Then, the two exchanged breaks in the decider before the 2023 champion finally claimed victory.

Speaking live on the BBC, it was early in the second set when Cash first outlined his findings. As Alcaraz sought to trouble Munar’s serve, he strung together two really strong returns that put the 28-year-old on the back foot.

When you look at the grip that Alcaraz has on the return, on the clay court the forehand grip that the players stand with, almost all the players stand with, usually on the clay [they have] much more time. He goes for the block Pete Sampras type [shot].

After the victory over Munar, Alcaraz defeated Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets in the quarterfinals of Queen’s. Alcaraz was crowned the champion of Queen’s in 2023. Alcaraz lost last year in the Round of 16 to Jack Draper, who is also a semifinalist this year. Home favorite Draper defeated Brandon Nakashima in the quarterfinals this year to set up a clash with Jiri Lehecka.
