Carlos Alcaraz Shares Honest Thoughts About his Preparation Coming into Queen’s Club

Carlos Alcaraz admits he had nothing to lose coming into this year’s Queen’s Club championships. The Spaniard came into this tournament after playing a titanic five-set final against Jannik Sinner at Roland Garros.

He had a lot of tussles during this tournament, including the final against Jiri Lehecka, but he eventually emerged victorious. Alcaraz credited the people who made him comfortable on and off the court. He said in his post-match interview:

I came without expectations at all. Just to play good tennis, trying to be as ready as possible for the grass. I have to say thank you for my team for the whole week. I am lucky to have my family, a lot of friends here that made me feel really comfortable on and off court. Without them it wouldn’t be possible. Thank you to my team, family, and friends, and all the people who supported me the whole week. It has been really special playing in front of all of you every year. I can’t wait to come back next year.

With this win, Alcaraz goes into Wimbledon as the man to beat. He is a two-time defending champion at SW19 and will bid for a third consecutive title. This will put him in the same bracket as Bjorn Borg, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

As far as this win is concerned, he has now won titles on all surfaces for a third consecutive season. He won the Rotterdam Open in February. Then, he won clay titles in Monte Carlo, Italian Open and Roland Garros.

Carlos Alcaraz wins second Queen’s Club title

World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz won his fifth title of the season on Sunday, claiming victory at the HSBC Championships. He battled past Jiri Lehecka in a hard-fought final, finishing with a 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-2 win. The match lasted just over two hours and marked Alcaraz’s second title at Queen’s Club after his 2023 triumph.

Lehecka, playing in his first career grass-court final, matched Alcaraz in the first two sets. Both players delivered high-quality tennis, but the Spaniard raised his level in the third set. With aggressive returns and smart shot selection, Alcaraz pulled away to secure his 21st tour-level title.

The win adds Alcaraz to an elite list of active players with four or more grass titles. He joins Novak Djokovic, Matteo Berrettini, Taylor Fritz, and Nicolas Mahut. The 22-year-old will now head to Wimbledon on an 18-match win streak, the longest of his career.

Alcaraz’s recent run has been dominant. Since his early loss to David Goffin in Miami, he has gone 27-1, collecting trophies in Monte-Carlo, Rome, Roland Garros, and now Queen’s. His latest title boosts his lead over Jannik Sinner in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin by 2,240 points.

Carlos Alcaraz matches Rafael Nadal’s landmark

Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz made history by becoming only the second man to win both Roland Garros and the Queen’s Club Championships in the same season. He joined fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal in achieving this rare double. The win further confirms Alcaraz’s dominance on multiple surfaces.

In the Queen’s Club final, Alcaraz was pushed hard by Jiri Lehecka. He took the first set 7-5 but dropped the second in a close tie-break. The match then went to a deciding third set, where the Spaniard stepped up his level and controlled the court.

Alcaraz surged through the final set 6-2, showing his ability to switch gears under pressure. The victory came just two weeks after his title run at Roland Garros. These consecutive wins have given him serious momentum heading into the grass-court Grand Slam.

Now preparing for Wimbledon, Alcaraz will look to carry forward this strong form. Already a two-time champion there, he is aiming for a third title. Speaking after his Queen’s win, he said he hopes to maintain the “good feelings” as he heads to SW19.
